very slow system boot

Good! I have the system already practically polished and to my liking, with all the games I want, with all its covers, my own emulationstation theme ...
but since I finished putting all the covers, now in the boot, since the white screen with the message "loading", until finally enter the menu and you can start playing, it takes about 2 minutes, sometimes more .
I understand that it is because of the amount of content that has to be loaded, but ... can I do something to solve it or make it go more fluid?

I have not looked at it but ...
I do not know what the startup is that uses batocera, but it reminds me a lot when the system is waiting to start a service .... 1:30 seconds is usually the time that systemd leaves. when this happens later something more.
The fact is that it is silent, you do not hear the hard drive for a long time, and suddenly it starts to read and finishes booting.
I suspect as if some process was blocked during startup and init is not able to launch it, that's why it makes me wait so long.
If I find out something I will share it with you.

you can customize /sbin/init to write a log between each start command to know the time of each service starting;.

Hi! i having same issue on 5.21, after finish all my roms,themes,covers, the system suddenly became slow, about 1min to turn off and 1min on loading screen to turn on. Its a PC with a ssd kingston, before that was flying, 1sec to everyhing, but now =(-.

thats happen during the load systems, if you have more than 20 systems with complet roms, and if is there a system with iso files it takes long to read files and load systems,covers.romslist.etc..etc..etc, cause that is the boot slow. same here but just for a 30 seconds not 1 minute like you mentioned .

GameCast yeah i was thinking about that after posting here xD, almost 1tb with OS roms and everything, on ssd of course.

Only issue I have is a long black screen. The update for loading roms is normal. But the black screen is new.

Kossay i use a 3TB HDD 7200 rpm and need a bit to load all files .
