External hard drive works rarely

I've setup a 2tb external hard drive with all the games on it. It's recognize in the system menu and sometimes I boot and it works. Most of the time it doesn't and boot on the internal memory instead. I can't see any of my games. Sometimes changing the USB cable make it works. Sometime it doesn't?

What is going on ?!!

there is a timeout.
It acts as if you forgot to plug it over ~7 seconds if the disk takes too much time to startup
and thus, switch on the other drive

i remember having done an option to change the value.

add in the recalbox-boot.conf file at the top of your sdcard :
sharewait=30
i guess it should help.
