I was hoping that upgrading to kodi 17.6 would allow me to play .m3u8 (hls) streams, but it does not.

When I put the link above into a playlist file called 'test.strm', kodi on batocera 5.13 will not play it When I test the same file on openELEC 8.0.4 (kodi 17.3) on the same Raspberry Pi it plays. (Its not an ARM architecture issue.) The openELEC system does not have the inputsream.adaptive or RTMP input addons enabled, so it can play it with their own kodi build. (Batocera does not have the inputstream.adaptive addon available to enable so it looks like the kodi binary addons are not up to date either.)
Anyone have any idea what is missing in the batocera build compared to the openelec build?
