Tronsmart Vega S95 support?

I am wondering if there is any way (or will be) to install it to my Tronsmart Vega S95 that shares the same chipset than the Odroid C2.

there is some work to do before it becomes possible.
however, i'm concentated on making better the current architecture.
If somebody is interested to make it work on this board, he is welcome. I'm can help, but i'll not take a long time on it for the moment.

It would be a nice thing to see batocera.linux on Tronsmart Vega S95, but dont forget it is only the same CPU and GPU. The Board is very different. The Odroid C2 have no Sata-Port, have no WLAN and no SPDIF! Another problem will be the "Storage-Disk". The Vega S95 have no SD-Card Slot, so you have to adress the internal storage. I think you see that it is not as easy as it seems to be at the first look.

But if sometime the S905 Chip gets his full linux support it would be a nice project to build a Retro-Gaming-Station on the Vega S95... :-)

FoxBob79 I had absolutely no idea of the difficulties. It was more a prayer than a claim. I am considering though, to install a full PC or a laptop near my tv screen and use the x86_x64.

I only want to show that it is not as easy as it seems to be :-)

But the idea to spent maybe 50 Euro an get an "T95M" with running batocera.linux on it is very very sexy!! This 50 Euro includes the case, the powersupply and everything you need. An SD-Card Slot is also aviable.

For me it sounds like the perfekt Gaming-Box!! Much better then a RPi3!! And the costs are the same because for 50 bucks you get an Board with case and powersupply...

I will wait to see how good version 5.3 is running on the odroid c2 and then maybe i will try to port it to an "T95M"... :-)

FoxBob79 Jarkan I asked the same thing on github, and I am also excited that this could be done in the future!

In the meantime I did a LibreElec based build that boots into Emulationstation+Retroarch, it is by no means as cool as batocera, but in the meantime it works for me, maybe you can try it on your Tronsmart vega s95 🙂

No need, just download v1.2 (from the release tab) , uncompress and use Rufus to install on an SD card.

If it doesn't boot, you need to replace the dtb.img on the SD card with one that corresponds to your device.

Yesterday I read something about an Kodi-Retro-Gaming-Plugin that is under heavy development. It seems to be that in future Kodi will suppport a plugin that works with libretro-cores. But I think it will take a long time till we see a first beta or something else, because the development starts with the release of Kodi 17!!

At the moment I am trying to install Ubuntu or Debian on my T95M... But till now I have no luck with getting it on the internal storage!! Till now I was always using Single-Bord-Computers and work on an SD-Card, but I want to install on internal eMMC. My idea is that you only store your ROMs on SD-Card and the hole System is on internal storage...

OK, it is not Batocera, but it works!! For me only on sd-card, but I hope to find a way to bring it on emmc.

PS: Maybe this could be a chance to bring batocera on S905-TVBoxes too!! :-)

Sorry, I stoped working on it. I went back to my OdroidC2 and hope we will become a working Linux Kernel 4.11 in the next weeks. This should increes the performance over all. After that is done i will give the tvBOX a new chance... :-)
