Joystick configured out of the box

Hi,

your pad is not recognized out of the box on batocera ?
i made this post so that you can help us to have your controllers working by default on batocera.

First, in case you’ve already customized your pad configuration via the menu, you can restore the default pad configuration by removing the file /userdata/system/configs/emulationstation/es_input.cfg and reboot batocera.

Second, once rebooted, if your joystick is not working out of the box, batocera wil ask you to configure it.
If you have several unconfigured joystick, for the moment, configure only one.
Each time you configure a joystick, the file /userdata/system/configs/emulationstation/es_last_input.cfg is created with the configuration of your last configured joystick.
Copy the content of this file in this thread. I will add it to the default batocera config.

Each time i will add one, i will remove your forum post to keep this thread more readable.

Bonjour !

Est-ce que quelqu'un a une idée quelqu'un à ce sujet ? Peut-être nadenislamarre ? En effet, j'ai eu beau chercher je ne vois pas comment est recréé ce fichier mupen64plus.cfg à chaque lancement de l'émulateur. Ça me gêne pas mal car de ce fait je ne peux pas régler la zone morte du stick et donc sur les jeux à curseurs par exemple il bouge tout seul ;-) Et puis je ne peux pas non plus activer le rumble du coup...
L'idée serait :
- soit d'empêcher la modification du fichier mupen64plus.cfg au lancement de l'émulateur (au moins la section inputs comme c'était possible jusqu'à la version 5.20 lorsque l'on sélectionnait mode=0)
- soit de m'indiquer comment est créé ce fichier pour que je puisse modifier le script (si c'est possible et à ma portée) de sorte à ce qu'il soit créé avec la configuration que je souhaite pour les manettes

Has anyone made Input Configs for the Atari Classic Joystick? Is there any Configs that utilize a spinner/paddle? I’d try to make my own, I just don’t know if Batocera can handle a spinner/paddle.

davpa Not for EmulationStation. But you can still configure them in RetroArch.
I heard that that specific controller has problems being recognised by RetroArch, it loops around when it should be an absolute value.

To configure a joystick:

Start QGroundControl and connect to a vehicle.
Connect the Joystick or Gamepad to a USB port.
Select the Gear icon (Vehicle Setup) in the top toolbar and then Joystick in the sidebar. The screen below will appear.

Quick question, what defines the name of the controller when you plug it in? I have my custom configs/mappings working but was hoping the device name would be reflected based on the config file. Instead it’s whatever it comes up as originally.

example:

I plug in a controller and it comes up as “Vanilla Controller A”

I change the deviceName to “Custom Vanilla Controller A” but matching the deviceGUID. Restart Batocera expecting to see the new device name come up when I plug in the controller but still see the original name. Does that name come from the controller itself (hardcoded)?

ptoro1 Name comes from the controller, yes. So if the controller does not provide a name, the best guess is used.

2600-Daptor for use with original Atari controllers. Note: I had to manually add in a “Start” button line to this code because the emulator is expecting one and will crash without it. Obviously, there is no start button on an original Atari controller.

Well turns out I was wrong, you can fix the joysticks. Don’t try this at home please. The issue isn’t a clearance problem it’s that the metal rod doesn’t push far enough into the switches. Solution: Extend metal rod.

i will take a picture for you and upload tomorrow. essentially i made it in 3 sections, the base, the joystick panel and then the top half with the monitor etc

the base inside i cut a hole at the back and built a subwoofer box inside so the bass booms out of the back. the amp is fitted to the top of the subwoofer.

i had it all running nice on my original bootleg board, i made custom kick harnesses and all of that, recapped the board etc but it developed a sound issue and a graphical glitch that wouldnt go away so at the moment i am running the rom through a raspberry pi. but i am able to run it with a nice crt filter which helps maintain the old style look to it

Hi i need help i just bought an 8bitdo Ultimate Wireless Bluetooth controller when I connect it with cable or the dongle I cant config it because batocera detects the control as “Pro Controller” but when I use any button there is no input. What can I do? How can I solve it? Thank you for U help.
