Can't use more than one controller in 5.14

Since the 5.14 update, I've had severe controller issues (retroarch only). I can detect, map and assign a single controller and it works in all emulators, but as soon as I plug in another controller, I lose all controller input in retroarch, including menu/hotkeys. I end up having to press the PC's power button to shut down. I've tried many different controllers, and all of them work just fine when there's only one connected. I've also tried with and without a USB hub. Dolphin is not affected, and works okay up to 4 players. ES works fine as well. I tried a fresh copy of Batocera 5.14, and the issue persists.

I'm not sure if this is a source of the problem, but for me this happened after changing controller order in ES controller configuration menu.

ok, i manage to reproduce. I've to be sure we all have the same problem.
In my case, in fact, only 1 controller has a problem. And as soon as it is plugged, other controllers doesn't work in retroarch.
If i plug it alone (it's an xbox 360 controller), es works, but retroarch doesn't.
While retroarch is running, if i unplug the joystick and replug it, it works.
Do you have similar problems ?

hum, finally, i didn't really manage to reproduce :
- if i reconfigure my joystick, it works.

can you try to reconfigure yours joysticks to see if it fixes ?

do you mean that it happends only if you plug a pad while retroarch is running ?
or if you plug several pads in es, then run retroarch ?

Sorry I didn't see this. What I meant was as soon as I have 2 controllers connected. With just one (I have tried logitech cordless rumblepad 2, logitech f710, and some iPega controllers by USB ) all of them work fine. If I reconfigure and add a 2nd controller, neither of them work at all in retroarch. I have to use the power button to shut off the machine.

In my case second controller never works. The first one is working when I replug it again after retroarch was started. Single controller still needs replugging to work.

And one more thing. Xbox 360 controller is configured properly by default in batocera, so there is no need for manual configuration for it. But if I still go through it - the hotkey button starts cycling through shader sets in retroarch in combination with being an actual hotkey. Is there a way to reset a controller configuration? Looks like it's all messed up.

you can remove /recalbox/share/system/.emulationstation/es_input.cfg and restart es

by reconfiguring the xboxone i manage to make it work ;-(
i don't really reproduce a problem, which make it difficult to found the cause by the way.

for the xbox one; this is not really a problem.
i've updated the mapping and it works now.
it is because the recent linux driver now supports the xbox one button, and thus it created a change in the configuration (button 9 became button 10 and so on).
so, xbox one looked to work in es because the arrow and some buttons were changed.
for the ps3, i've to find. i will try to find with @genetick57 while he is on the chat, or with somebody coming having the problem.

I can't for the life of me get it to work properly, so I am not sure where to start. I've tried many different models, and no matter what, anytime there's more than one controller, retroarch to loses control.
