Can't get NAS to work

Followed the Wiki and changed the settings as stated, but it still going to the internal rom folder. I made sure to have different games in both locations so that I can see if it is working. Tried refreshing game lists, restarting computer. Tried typing in the location on my computer to see if it let me see the folder and that is working. Under the setting on the computer is shows just two triangles to left and right, which tells me that it did read the file since I don't think Emulation Station understands NETWORK as an option.

Network is working and checked also. Wired connection. Below is what I have in the recalbox-boot.conf file:

sharedevice=NETWORK
sharenetwork_smb1=ROMS@192.168.1.1:volume9/recalbox/roms:username=john,password=wayne

can you type the following command from command line and give me the error ?

mount.cifs //192.168.1.1/volume9/recalbox/roms /recalbox/roms -o username=john,password=wayne

On OSX in Finder typing in smb://192.168.1.1/volume9/recalbox/roms will pull it up correctly

However on Batocera roms are located in /recalbox/share/roms

If I run the command through ssh

mount.cifs //192.168.1.1/volume9/recalbox/roms /recalbox/share/roms -o username=john,password=wayne

then it does work correctly.

i don't understand the difference between what you did to get
"Couldn't chdir to /recalbox/roms: No such file or directory"
and the one when it works.

The only difference in the commands is the one "share"

Yours:
mount.cifs //192.168.1.1/volume9/recalbox/roms /recalbox/roms -o username=john,password=wayne

Mine:
mount.cifs //192.168.1.1/volume9/recalbox/roms /recalbox/share/roms -o username=john,password=wayne

If you look at the destination folder it is different.

Went and looked at the 11share file inside init.d to see if maybe that was messed up and that looks correct. Went into the tmp/mountNetwork.log file and looked at that and it is showing it is sending the correct command. Went into the tmp/mountNetwork.err file and it shows "Network is unreachable" error which makes me think that it is trying to run the mount command before there is a network connection established. But in emulation station it is showing that it does have a connection.

Maybe a delay of some kind would work?

are you on wifi ?
you cannot mount share via the wifi.
because the wifi password is stored in the share.
mounting are available only by wire.

It is connected using a cable. Got it to work finally.

You still cannot mount shares via wifi? No wonder it has not been working for me

no, you cannot for the moment via wifi.
because the wifi password is saved where the nas data are...
thus, you must first mount the nas to access the wifi password.
i may change this in the future to be able to use nas over wifi.

nadenislamarre Surely it would only need to connect to the NAS for the Wifi key if you set the NAS to store the entire SHARE but what about just the Roms Saves and BIOS ?

Would it be possible to add the Wifi password and SSID to recalbox-boot.conf as you do with the Root password when secure mode is enabled?
And I was trying to get it to work with just those folders not the whole share but have not had success yet

@FireRat666 since i will need to connect by wifi on my new home, be sure it will be implemented.
