Edit config file through ssh?

I make arcade sticks for LAN set up, some arcade stick have hdmi out other arcade sticks have composite out,
I have started updating to latest version of batocera over wireless. The first "composite out" stick I update is running slow audio and video. My monitor is 50HZ only. I have looked into the config fgile and it is missing the "sdtv_mode=18" . I try to edit this file over ssh connection but not enough privelages. Is there any other way to edit the boot file without opening my arcade stick and getting physical connection to the config file?

Can we please add this nuance into the wiki? I am running Linux as my daily system and I was expecting stuff like sudo and some other commands; one I tried was lscpu, which we don’t have on Batocera. I think it’d make sense to explain to users that the bash is somewhat minimal, compared to a typical daily Linux box.

I was a bit surprised when I logged in as root but can’t edit syslinux.cfg. If I don’t see your reply I’ll have to try every possible way just to get to it..

btw, recommend way to edit that for noobs is to just plug the drive into another computer. It’s FAT32 for a reason. And ensuring you have a “method of recovery” in case you edit the boot partition in such a way that Batocera no longer boots means you can still safely reflash in case you stuff it up.
