Updated to 5.16 and got a black screen on a PC

angelus9151 Very old topic but turning off auto-update in config helped me with black screen in 5.22 as well! So thanks man ;-)

angelus9151 I did not go down 5.23 road yet. 5.22 works perfectly on old laptop but I had 'odd' problems after installing it on old desktop yesterday.

BZZ had 5.23 change my gamelist file for psx this morning. It was showing the .BIN files in the list.

angelus9151 I get couple of systems showing files they should not unfortunately. I just use 'hidden' option more often than I care to admit, but it does not bother me as much as it used to.

I am on batocera 5.22 X86_64 version and I have an AMD Ryzen CPU. I experience issues as well.

About game does not lauch (select game -> try to launch -> come back to games selection list) :
Sega CD
PC Engine CD
PS2
MSX
Lynx
FDS
Dreamcast
Colecovision
Atari ST

About game does lauch but doesn't start (select game -> emulator launch -> game does not start, black screen) :
3DO
Atari 5200

Do you think it is BIOS related ? I know that games on PS2 does work on my Retropie setup in the same configuration, but not on Batocera 5.22.

BZZ Hi, you were right ! Now many of my games work by putting the bios in SHARE/bios folder.
However I have 2 remaining issues :

sega-CD bios works well but when I check the missing BIOS in batocera menu, it says that the MD5 are different for this system (because the bios come from another site). Is that dangerous in terms of safety (I mean virus/trojan) ?
I have put my Dreamcast bios dc_flash.bin and dc_boot.bin in the SHARE/bios folder, but when I try to play, depending on the emulator/core :
-> Emulator Auto or Reicast / Core Auto or Reicast : the game does not launch.
-> Emulator Libretro / Core Auto : the game does not launch.
-> Emulator Libretro / Core Reicast or Reicast_CE : entire batocera system crash at dreamcast logo boot.

What can be the issue please ? Thank you very much for your kind help !

Regarding 2.:
I did not have any issues with Dreamcast.
I guess it has to do with your Ryzen CPU.
Do you have another PC (with Intel HD Graphics or nvidia graphics card) which you could test, to check if the problem is related to your hardware?

I'm on a RyZen 2400G w/ GTX970:

AUTO: Starts up, but missing controls - might be a botched config file tho
LIBRETRO/REICAST: works
LIBRETRO/WINCE: doesn't work, no crash tho just back to GUI

i just only have noticed how old the original topic was, and that your problem and the one of prog-amateur are not relating to it. So it is better to open up new threads.
