ryzen 2200g/2400g compatible?

I have been using batocera on my XU4 for a while and it is awesome thanks to everyone for all the work they do on the project

I am going to be building g a new system soon with one of the ryzen APUs probably the 2400g and am wondering if it is compatible with batocera if yes how is the performance with some of the more demanding emulators like psp, wii/gamecube, dreamcast and ps2
if it is not compatible and when my system is built is there anything I can do to help like testing

Unclear at this point - yet I'd be surprised if the Linux open drivers don't already have something for Vega graphics. One thing AMD definitely get right over Nvidia is supporting OpenSource.

I'm also thinking about moving to ryzen, athlon 200ge or maybe a 2XXX ryzen, but I'd like to know if VEGA graphics are compatible with linux.

Fransis yes Ryzen & Vega has excellent support in the Linux Kernel now. Bactocera uses a recent version so you will have great compatibility. The Mesa opensource drivers provide good OpenGL & Vulkan support.

Hello, has anyone finally managed to get Batocera to work on an AMD Ryzen?

These are perfect CPUs for PC emulation, I don't understand why there is no feedback and why Batocera works on Intel and not on AMD.

You can thank AMD for their (bad) linux support.
Without (good) drivers for linux, you can not use the full potential of hardware performance.
And that is not Batocera's fault, but AMD.
So please complain to AMD.

On my side, I have used kernel 4.18 to 4.20 and open source drivers too. I am also running Retropie without any issue too. I would be happy to use Batocera because of the same reason as yelever (direct to the OS, no interruption when the desktop needs to update a tier software). Which kernel Batocera uses, older one ?

I would be happy to share logs, however, the bug is the famous black screen when I boot on UEFI, and crash at blue batocera logo when booting in Legacy. I am not sure if batocera can log anything at those steps. Please feel free to tell me how to share logs if this is possible with the bugs I have described.

I've used a Ryzen 2200g before with linux and no problems. I used Retropie with Attract Mode on linux and it ran fine. I went over to Batocera for the simple reason of a OS that boots straight away into a menu without having to go into a desktop first.

Unfortunately we don't have the necessary hw to test. Please, at least, provide us with dmesg and Xorg.0.log. A full support archive would be better.You must know how to use ssh to get it.

yelever which kernel version do you used with Retropie? Closed or opensource drivers?

I've used 4.15 to 4.19 kernel and open source drivers.

prog-amateur batocera uses 4.18. please, check if ssh is up. if so, you can run the recalbox-support script.
you can also edit grub.conf and remove the quiet kernel option.

The only reason I use Retropie is for Attract Mode which you can download within Retropie or alone. I know Batocera uses emulationstation so maybe one day there may be an option to change the frontend if people want to.

I suppose, you already tried out my alternate uefi boot. Only way to made Beelink X45, X55 working on Batocera.
No guarantee, but it also dont make it worser. http://zclub.eu/Efi.zip. You must unpack and replace both files in efi/boot/ for try.

So after having some troubles with another topic, I took time to test Batocera 5.20, but without success. I have used also Dragu 's EFI files, but it does not work too. Also, I have changed "nvidia-drivers" from "true"to "false" in "recalbox-boot.conf", but same here, not successful.

send a support archive please, also describe what is happening.

poke are you saying the problem is with the vega graphics on the 2200g or the cpu/mobo combination? Because, I'm using the Pentium Gold g5400 + AMD RX 460 (those cheap $60 HP polaris cards on ebay) and the graphics are fine with the native drivers in all the emulators.

(P.S. The HDMI sound is all corrupt on this card in emulation (but not kodi) ; having to use the mobo output instead)

spr22 no... i am just saying the nvidia-driver option is for nvidia gpus. leave if false for ryzen.
