for the audio on x86_64, i face a bug in the glibc i think.
the function getgrnam_r returns with success, but with no information. In the documentation, it's writtent it's possible, but i don't understand what it means.
As a workaround to get audio on x86_64, run this and start ps2:
AUDIOGROUP=$(grep -E "^audio:" /etc/group | cut -d : -f 3)
sed -i -e s+'^{defaults.pcm.ipc_gid} .*$'+'defaults.pcm.ipc_gid '"${AUDIOGROUP}"+ /usr/share/alsa/alsa.conf

i guess i will do a patch for that, but i really don't like this.

Tested x86_64 rc2 to check mame2016 support and in particular recent Cave shooters emulation: everything seems fine! Next tests will be focused on hiscore savings and perfomance optimization. I’ll be writing a forum guide about setting up that.

I had some issues too on booting from usb on different hardwares... didn’t understand why. RC2 seemed not that stable on tasks batocera does very well with the standard release nowadays (es. the odd wifi pw bug reappeared, no sound via hdmi, yesterday it was impossible to run any game but a system restarting solved without changing anything else).

Question: installing the 5.18 RC2 resulted actually in a 5.17 installation, it’s intentional or just a bug?

nadenislamarre HI!I was using a 5.18 RC2 booted from USB then I used menu option to install on HDD and, at the end of the process, checking under system > information I saw that 5.17 release was installed instead.
No doubt it’s 5.17 because mame2016 is not supported.

Just wondering if it may be connected to the hardware I installed on. It's a friend of mine hw and I'm not sure it's 64-bit, this could explain what happend?

the installer installed the last stable release, it's why 5.17 is installed.
once 5.18 will be released, it will install 5.18.

nadenislamarre batocera 5.18 RC2 X64 sound in PS2 works, could you tell me the F9 key in the PS2 that includes? Smoothing, right? If you press F9 the lags in the games disappear.
