Hello all 🙂

In march 2018, I bought a Raspberry pi3 (not the last one) and I tried to install Recalbox ... it worked. But before, i was suprise thats guys under recalbox didn't install Amiga emulator in the early version (only Atari st). In fact, I saw in my RecalBox version, amiberry was here ... so nice 🙂 . But when I wanted to install amiga roms (adf) and some good kick.rom with good checksum, i got strange thinks. When I was teenager, i gotmy first amiga500 with some good game like Xenon. Before i tried it with UAE ... work fine ! but here "oh la la" .... very slow compare to the orignal one, compare also with the Atari ST emulator under Recalbox. strange I tried to modified with F12 some parameters.

After some tried, i installed Retropie version with differents version of Amiga Emulator. Each time there was some problems.

I tried also Batocera version under PC 64bits. FS-UAE works fine (love it !!) . with the zip format accepted nice !

I put away retropie version and installed at the end the Batocera fork of Retropie on my rasberry pi 3 but i got same problems in amiberry amiga emulators and more i can't got to the parameters with F12 (i get black windows and close emulation. if i want go again on it nothing happened

have you some ideas ?

yes, FS-UAE is very nice ;-)
F12 is supposed to open a menu ? if i remember, i'll have a try tonight. i guess that it is crashing, in most of cases, it should be easy to fix.

Hello nadenislamarre, thx to your answer. Yes it's the key F12 to acces in the amiga menu. My version is batocera.linux 5.18. With the original Recalbox it worked ...

But it's not my really problem; like i explained it's the emulator amiberry for arm processor (raspberry 3). I think it is not able to emulate properly the amiga500. I tried on game : Xenon and it's was so slow compare the original one or compare to Atari ST emulator 🙂 Strange ... i think if this kind of game in appeared in 88 (not so complex as shadow of the beast or unreal for example for scrolling and the code) is not able to run with this emulator (batocera/recalbox or Recalbox) ... so forget the rest of the games.

On old pc it worked nice (UAE emulator) and it's work fine with FS-uae under batocera/PC.

Hello all,

I come back with amiga emulation experience always with a game called Xenon.

All my tests are with A500 emulator: 68000 / 7mhz / Full ECS (extrachipset A500) /Rom 1.3/chip 1MB

I tried to install Happiga (PI3) : the game work nice witj Blitter mode normal or (wait for blitter) with fast copper or not
but it's too fast with blitter mode immediate.

I tried batocera (pc64bits) : good work with fs-uae if you put the game in folder Amiga500/amiga600 but not with amiga500+. In this case i don't where is the configuration case under FS-UAE (i don't search too much also).

I tried Batocera-recall box / Recall-box or Amibian all in PI3 and i think there are base on amiberry because it's the same way into the Amiga menu.
Recall-box : It work fine only if I put 68000 with 14MHz but it's not more an Amiga500.
Batocera/Recall-Box : it work slow but I cannot open the menu (black page and nothing else).
Amibian : I tried lots of menu configurations but still slow

and I tried WinUAE (pc64bits) : It work fine only if i put Cycle-exact (full) otherwise ....

I don't know if this game was baddly codded or something else but It strange .... and I think make an amiga emulator is not so easy :-)

Anyone have some answers or commentary ?

Hi are multidisk amiga games working in batocera? I’ve 5.18 but I didn’t find out how to make that work... Don’t know if it’s just me doing something wrong ore if there’s a bug somewhere.

Ok it works 🙂. Amiberry is still slow for some games ... I prefer so far 'FS-UAE' under Batocera PC (Batocera) or better WinUAE (the reference). I don't think Pi3 is adapted for Amiga but i don't know why (arm Hardware ? or programmation ?) .

Anyways thank for your work in general in Batocera retrogaming ! (lot of work).

wait for the new amiberry version is comming soon. Its include whdboot out of the box. There are a lot of performance improvements in the new version.

if you see under WINUAE (Windows) there is a case in chipset menu called Exact cycle (full). If you click on it you are more and less exactly the same than a True Amiga ... but this option has disappear form ARM amiga emulators (amiberry amiga4all amiga4arm amibian or happiga) ...

For my experience any arm amiga emulators are very good if you compare to FS-UAE(linux)/WINUAE(windows) under pc.

But it is just what i was see (probably i'm not do enought tests) and i not a progammer so i don't know the way to include new version of amiberry under batocera

amiberry Version v2.24b9 from yersterday.

to activate whdload you have to set whdload as core in the advanced gamesettings for each amiga platform (or rom).

I try Amiberry Version v2.24b9. When I put Xenon it's slow as usual ... (Xenon was one of my first amiga game in 1988 ... so i'm a nostalgic guy :-) ).

If I want the same speed than a real amiga500 i must put 14MHz instead of 7MHz. I don't if this program ( I mean Xenon by the bitmap Brother) was badly programmed or something like that ... but it's strange because it works perfectly under WINUAE (in exact cycle) or under FS-UAE (Batocera linux PC). It work good with Happiga (normal copper / wait for blitter, if i put immediate the game is too speed and buggy).

With amibian it's the same ... slow (base on Amiberry i think).

Maybe I didn't try to much games even if I have a complete collection of amiga adf and complete BS1 archive (Bamiga Sector one).

But if we have to test a emulator we need to compare any emulators to the real computers we want to emulate.

the point is whdload. whd load fix this issiu with the performance. whdload have a special configurtaion / bugfix for each game.

Later this day i publish a new image that support lha extension for amiga. i found a new updated version from xenon as lha file and it works like a charm.

retroarch buttons are not fully finnished
the navigation patch is to modify (not yet in this commit)
i've to understand what to do with whdboot and data directory. you put them in the bin directory, probably because it must be next to amiberry binary file but for the moment, it doesn't cry to not found these files, are they really required.
