Update error: not enough space on /boot

Got 2pcs running batocera in 80gb discs. Can´t do the last update from the menu. Got: not enough space on /boot
Previously I did the update from the menu a couple of months ago.
It´s a known issue with last update?

yes if you did install batocera a long time ago.
in the last update, the system (boot) size was increased due to new changes. for example, the playstation 2 emulator require space.
can you tell me the size of your /boot when you plug it on windows for example ?
in the worst case, you should reinstall, it will make a new big (1.9GB instead of 1.2G😎 in the boot system.
note that at the end, the system is around 600MB, but twice the size is required to update.

nadenislamarre Hi i can’t update and my Batocera is installed on HDD so I can’t delete “batocera” file from another pc while the system is running.

I guess I need to reinstall, right? In that case, apart from roms, may I save all my configurations somehow in order to skip configuration from scratch?

It´s 1.2gb for me. I could try to expand the partition but instead... If i download the update manually, decompress, and copy all the files into the /boot would it be enough? it needs twice the size to decompress right?

I had the same Issue: I tried to delete te "batocera" file in /boot/boot but it's write-protected. I couldn't find where to set the filesystem to writable in /etc/fstab. The only option is a new instalation? Thanks in advance.

you cannot do that while the system is running. do it from windows or an other system

remove boot/batocera
unzip boot.tar.xz on your key

Unfortunately I messed with something and the system didnt restart, so I finally reinstalled 😅

nadenislamarre wouldn't it be easier to just make it so that the update is downloaded to the data partition instead of boot and get rid of this issue altogether?

when it doest boot, you can always remove all on the partition and unzip boot.tar.xz while the install just does this + erase the data partition

This problem can be fix to resize boot partition
- Start with Gparted live
- shrink data partition : -2GB
- move data partition at end of disk
- resize boot partition : +2GB
- apply
- reboot

Ça sent la réinstallation complète (c'est déjà la misère pour booter sur une cléf depuis un nuc).

C'est un NUC DN2820FYKH, quand je boote ça freeze directement avec affiché en haut à gauche de l'écran "batocera.linux".

sorry to post this on an old thread but im having a similar problem i burned a 15gb image to sd card then i put it into my other pc to boot from and it boots fine. i then insert my 1TB external hard drive
i go into options in batocera then scroll down to instal to new disk choose disk then chose version then click on go.

than i get an error saying check system logs

i have got network on this machine and ive also tried it on my main machine and still says the same error

i looked in the logs and it says theres not enough space to download 940mb to transfer it to external disk

how am i suppose to do this as no matter how big a sd card i use the image still takes up all the space on it and i get the same error not enough space how can i transfer the image to a different disk and then have nearly all the 1tb space ro put my roms

Where did you got this 15gb image? Is it a preloaded image or did you do it yourself?

joinski i downloaded the official image from the batocera site then extracted it and replaced it with my image files that i made and then imaged it back up

even the official image wont install to different hard drive as it says network required and i have network
