Disk usage issue

So, I've installed batocera on a 500gb HD using etcher. When I run the system, it works fine but under disk usage on the menu it states "n/a". The thing is, I can only add some roms until it goes out of space. If I open the hd in minitool partition wizard, there's only on partition (BATOCERA) about 2gb and the rest is just unallocated space. I tried creating a new partition with it, fat32 exfat, tried resizing the batocera partition to the entire HD. None of it worked as in nothing changed or the system would boot then go black screen. Appreciate any help. Thanks!

The way i got round it is install Batocera on a small usb stick (2gb is enough but no less) and use the internal hard drive purely for roms. That way you'll boot from usb stick then on system settings change storage device to your internal hard drive then start adding your roms. I do this by pressing F1 key then transferring my roms from an external hard drive
