After using: jstest, evtest, and sdl2-jstest, I was able to figure out that this controller is not fully recognized by the emulators. Specifically the buttons that show up in sdl2-jstest and unhandles event do not work.
After doing some research on the newer xpad linux driver, it seems I will be forced to give xboxdrv a shot. Xboxdrv is more customizable friendly so I should be able to map my buttons to an xbox 360 controller and hopefully everything works fine.
