Ok! I am running recalbox-support.sh for almost 1h without sucess!
3 lines showing:
sh: line0: kill:root: arguments must be process or job IDS

and no returning from prompit.
Version 5.18
I will cancel, reboot and upgrade the system again to send more informations!

ok! Lets start:
Started with 5.18 using dragu files EFI boot working perfect, I cant create support file with this version(see previous information).
I start doing the upgrade to 5.19, everything running smoth, finished the upgrade, used remount to replace boot files like always.
Reboot and logo screen shows up and stayed like that for a few minutes.
Pressed ALT+F3 and the xorgerror(Image) shows up,
Tried to create support file, is running for 30 min without finishing (recalbox-support-error image)

I am using beelink x45 with 0.14 bios if anyone need to know, using Dragu EFI files.

Hello, et bonsoir aux français,
I discovered Batocera Linux by talking to an amateur Bartops maker. He advised me Batocera, a light and ergonomic distribution because I complained that in Retropie, I couldn't get out of the PS2 games with the buttons on my arcade stick (pcsx2 force the player to use the Esc key on the keyboard, which I don't have on my Bartop PC).

So before installing Batocera on my AMD 2200G Bartop, I would like to know if the black screen bug of version 5.19 is fixed please ? I haven't seen any news since 2 days, maybe you've found a solution?

Just for your information, I have tested the USB key on my laptop (Core M3) and had the black screen on boot (I can't use this key on my Bartop because I have no more USB connector available, so I have to install it in a partition of the SSD), this is why µI ask the question before I re-open all the Bartop for this heavy operation.

Thank you both for your feedback. So if my understanding is correct, the solution is to install the version5.19 RC1, and wait for 5.20.

Hi, thank you, I have tried version, 5.20 but it doesn't work.
I just have flashed batocera.img to the USB flash drive (I didn't used the boot file from the repository link), was that correct ?
When I open the USB flash drive, I have 2 partitions with the following content :

I will this weekend and try to generate another support files, in my case I use intel CPU and GPU

when I did the beta update on my internal hd it had the same black screen problem on the home screen. I did a beta installation on my pen drive and it worked perfectly. I have decided to delete the sysrtem folder from the share partition and install the beta version 5.20 and it is working perfectly. Hope it helps everyone!

souvelhomasjogo you made a clean install? or make a 5.19 install and change the system folder for the data partition?

I first put the boot files via windows 5.18 boot files. After executing I deleted the system folder by computer ip. Without rebooting I did the upgrade via putty program with the command /recalbox/scripts/recalbox-upgrade.sh http://batocera-linux.xorhub.com/upgrades/x86_64/beta/. After installation it was necessary to redo control and video settings.

Also Beta Version from 20181201 in clean install still have a boot black screen...

No Network Access to create a support file.

In the case of an EFI/UEFI bios, if you arrive to make it run on USB Stick, and not on HDD, the reason could be that the partition table ist declared as MBR and not GPT.

Dragu Hello, I have tried both UEFI/Legacy boot, but I am still blocked on batocera boot logo (the blue one). Actually, now on my side, it is no more a black screen but a crash on the boot logo.

From the moment on that you have a graphic logo, you have not a bootloader problem, but another reason. The bootloader activity is before, and when it is an issue, you very often have a grey screen with a fixed cursor somewhere in middle of the display. After this phase, best thing to do, make a support file for the staff.

Dragu Thank you, following your advise I have open a ticket for this specific issue, it is awaiting approval from admin. By the way, how can I make a support file ?

I am just small time in the batocera forum, so I am not an expert here. If you can try to connect to your system with ssh, you could generate a support file by starting /recalbox/scripts/recalbox-support.sh. If you can connect by Lan or Wlan to your batocera box, the most easy is putty installed on your PC, after login : root, password linux. You can this way directly access your Batocera system. This will generate a log file, but for the rest, better to wait for a member of the team. I am an old Recalbox user, you know, where rats are leaving the sinking ship. 😉

Dragu I come from retropie, and to me, Batocera looks more promising than both recallbox & retropie in terms of features. I would be happy to solve my issue then to use my Bartop !

What I read, and as @nadenislamarre was writing, there seems to be some issues with certain graphic cards on 5.19. So, in your case I would install 5.18 and wait for a working new version. 🙂
