Problem with pairing of playstation 3 controller

Dear nadenislamarre,

I've got an original Dualshock 3 (SIXAXIS) controller, and it works like a charm when the cable is plugged in. As it's a wireless controller, I was searchin' the web for a bluetooth-dongle and bought one from amazon.com (CSL Bluetooth Nano Stick, v4.0 - Mod.-Nr. BSN23996 WDP.-Nr. BSN300419). I have received it today and I am not able to pair the Dualshock 3 controller with the bluetooth dongle.

According to my research (I've searched the web w/ Dr. Google ;-) ) I just need to plug the controller in Batocera-Linux, wait for 10 Seconds, unplug it, and press the Playstation-Button. However, the leds are not blinkin' after disconnectin' it from the cable, although the controller is fully charged.

Am I doing something wrong? Any help would be appreciated.

ps: you rebooted after making the changes in recalbox.conf, right?

hum, i don't remember the process exactly,
but it's not very robust, in my case, i've to do the operation several times sometimes but once it works, it works.
don't trust the leds.
I have to redo some checks, but not just right now.

If I remember correctly you need to edit recalbox.conf and switch from bluez to official (or vice versa) in the controller section.

Then connect your controller via usb cable, wait a few secs, disconnect it and push the ps button

I have edited the following configuration file:
/recalbox/share/system/recalbox.conf

##Enable PS3 controllers support
controllers.ps3.enabled=1

Choose a driver between bluez, official and shanwan

bluez -> bluez 5 + kernel drivers, support official and shanwan sisaxis

official -> sixad drivers, support official and gasia sisaxis

shanwan -> shanwan drivers, support official and shanwan sisaxis

#controllers.ps3.driver=bluez
controllers.ps3.driver=official

I've tried the bluez and the official variable - Unfortunately w/o any success. May I need to reset the controller and attach it, when all leds are blinkin'?

@Redfield: May I ask which Bluetooth-Dongle you are using? I read on the recalbox-wiki, that not all Bluetooth-Dongles might be compatible with PS3 controllers. 🙁

I have edited the config-file and rebooted twice (As I tried the bluez and official option) - However w/o success.
My procedure used to be as followed:
#1: Edit recalbox.conf for bluez / official driver
#2: Reboot
#3: Plug the PS3-Controller when Batocera-Linux is up and the ES-interface is running
#4: All Leds of the PS3 controller are slowly blinkin' - I have waited for ~25 seconds and unplugged it
#5: I have hit the PS-Button: All Leds are blinkin' rapidly fast
#6: The BT Dongle LED used to blink fast as well, however, the led has stopped blinkin' after 30 seconds - The controller leds are still blinking
#7: Tried it again with step 3

I was also in bluetoothctl and tried to set up the controller by hand - however - it was not found by bluetoothctl - The controller model no is: CECHZC2E - Might I have got an unsupported/defect controller? It's workin' like a charm with the USB cable attached - and according to my PS3 it's fully charged.

What a bummer - According to bluetoothctl the device is recognized with the following MAC:
60:38:0E:17:70:7C

So I issued the command:
connect 60:38:0E:17:70:7C
and received:
Attempting to connect to 60:38:0E:17:70:7C
Connection successful

However - the LEDs are still blinkin' extremely fast and it still doesn't get recognized 😢

I might call it a day and order the BT dongle which you've got 🙂 Thanks for the link/commendation!

Weird... 😮 - It's working now 😮 - I have had to use controllers.ps3.driver=shanwan

I'm just wondering why you had to use the shanwan driver...
Are you sure your controller is a genuine PS3 Sixaxis one from Sony?

@Redfield Hm - I might have received a fake controller in an original case - I've just bought last year a PS3 on ebay for a extremely cheap price. Nevertheless, the controller performs really weird (Input delay / Something is rattling inside; Might be a hardware defect; I might open the case afterwards) - I might buy an original one at the local store.
