No sound on HDMI - X64 NUC

Hello Guys,

I have a problem with HDMI sound, it's randomly mute...

I use an Xbox One Controller with a Jack output so i investigated and found a solution :

Blacklist the usb-snd-audio in Blacklist.conf

I used putty to modify the file but each time i reboot the file come ack to default and my code line is gone...

Tried to mount -o remount,rw /
Tried by FTP

All is fine, the file is modified, no error.

But when i reboot my modification are gone...

I must miss something.

The end my blacklist.conf file :

EDAC driver for amd76x clashes with the agp driver preventing the aperture

from being initialised (Ubuntu: #297750). Blacklist so that the driver

continues to build and is installable for the few cases where its

really needed.

blacklist amd76x_edac

blacklist snd-usb-audio

I also tried to trick the alsamixer but don't seem to do something, so i would like to blacklist this usb sound driver first to be sure it is or it is not the main problem, then i could investigate another things...

My PC : Micro ITX Core I5 7200U with 8Gb DDR4 and Seagate SSHD.

I also searched in my BIOS but there is no options for HDMI sound...

It seems that i only have one sound card so it is not a conflict, well Alsamixer see one for instance 😉

What upset me is that sometime i have sound and i reboot sound is no more. . . . . . So it's kind of working but from time to time ...

J'ai aussi cherché dans le BIOS American Megatrends mais pas d'option pour force la sortie son en HDMI ou autre.

Je ne semble avoir qu'une seule carte son si je m'en réfère à l'Alsamixer donc ce n'est déjà sans doute pas un conflit entre 2 cartes.

Ce qui m'énerve c'est que le son fonctionne parfois et si je redémarre il ne fonctionne plus et vice et versa, comme diraient les Inconnus ! :p ...

Zatacera Hi ! Press s and select HDMI. You may see a single vertical bar. Press m will unmute. You should then hear sound.

I am actually trying some things in Alsamixer, it works sometime when i reboot after changes.

I have 3 choices for sound card in Alsamixer :
1/ (default)
2/ HDA Intel PCH
3/ Enter device name...

The weird thing is that i have sound and if i reboot sometimes i don't works anymore, so basically it's working but not always... Kind of confusing...

Sometimes in Alsamixer i have 2 or 3 S/PDIF output and sometime i see 4 in Alsamixer, i swear that i'm not drunk and have no double vision ! 😃

I bought 4 NUCS to offer for Christmas and it's the same on the 4 of them so i don't think this is a hardware fault, maybe incompatibilty but not a manufacture problem.

Sound issues over hdmi on pc is a general problem. I have that issues too. If the sound doesn´t work over hdmi, i have to restart the system. How many restarts i need is every time different. Sometimes i need 10 restarts!
But i can use my sound over the normal audio jack. And that run pretty well and never make issues like hdmi.

It doesn´t matter if you buy an other system. It is a generally problem with pc´s.
But, i can tell you that the 8th gen intel cpus run very well with batocera. the intel gpu´s too, because they have the best gpu driver for linux.

You mean the HDMI sound is a problem on NUC's in general ? Or on NUC's using Linux or on NUC's using Batocera ? Just to understand completely

I have still ordered an Intel NUC8i3BEH, i'll get it tomorrow, hope i'll have a good sleep, because this problem starts to obsess me ! 😃
