Batocera 5.19 PSX PAL Black Screen

I am new to Batocera

I have converted my old Intel i5-2500k into a retro machine. The internal graphics card is used. Batocera 5.19

I tried some psx games and went into troubles. I tried FF8 and FF9 in different regions. US starts with no problems. Europe and germany starts with a black screen without sound.

FF7 in any region starts correctly.

I checked all psx bios md5 hashes and they are correct.
On-screen fps / frames are activated. In the started games the on-screen fps are changing and the frames counts up.
I even tried both mednafen and PCSX-ReARMed.

Any hints or solutions

i just googled Final Fantasy 8 Pal Black Screen and i found that:

So it seems, that PAL versions of FF8 and probably FF9 also, are protected. You need to patch those games or find already patched versions.

I thought the isos were broken. But when I tested them in epsxe on Windows, they ran without problems. No black screen.

PAL games with copy protection (like FF8 and FF9) need .sbi-files to run:

"Playing PAL copy protected games
PAL copy protected games need a SBI Subchannel file next to the bin/cue files in order to get past the copy protection."

You could also try to change the emulator core to MEDNAFEN, and maybe then the games work without the .sbi file?

I try both cores. Black screen.

With the .sbi file the game starts.

Hi guys, i have the same problem with the same games…
How can i create .sbi files?
Maybe i forgot something at the ripping time?
