J5005 vs PI3B processor power.

Just to show you the awesome speed of the J5005, you can see in the video PI3B loosing big with Carnevil. Not made with my camera but with handy, but I think you can see the result. The sound on J5005 is with no lag, you may not hear it very good as it was turned low on this TV.
So Intel plays underdog with this new processors running as some people found out, almost at maximum speed.
There is existing no boxed version as this chips are directly soldered to the board.

I was making today another speed test, for the compare. I made this test some times ago on a Raspberry PI3b.
Most interesting, this is a software 3D Benchtest that runs under Dosbox, so with no help from specific drivers and this way it is no partisan drivers involved. As you see on the screenshot, I reached a 5. Now, in compare the J5005 arrived to 35! what is 7x more speed cpu+gpu part combined. So, you see that comparing just core speeds is not giving the full picture of performance.

Just unpack and copy to your /rom/dos/pcpbench.pc folder. You can also adjust the screen resolution,
prefigurated is 800x600 to have for all machines the same basic test.

Ok, it is faster than the raspberry. But it costs much more too.

And as a comparision: My i5 is much more faster than the J5005... And a i7 is faster than my i5 and a i9 is....

I don´t understand for what that Thread is good?

Much more, I would not say. If you look the Asrock J5005-Itx, it cost as board about 120 Euro. So, for much more performance you have a better alternate also.
Concerning comparisions, I could also afford a Ferrari or Lambo, but drive a VW. 😉
I see this as search, not for the most powerful PC, because we make Retro-Gaming, means we (me anyway) dont play on PC's, but on some Arcade Machines with small size, no airport noise under the table, no heating in summer, so Bartop or other small selfmade consoles. Going to this considerations, the choice is limited and here you have a 10W processor + Gpu powerful enough to emulate, not perhaps all actual games, but anyway alot more as the PI3. And small enough to fit noisless into a console. 🙂

I think this benchmark test is a good idea.
You can do a quick comparison of the performance of your systems.
I just tested it with one of my systems (i7-4790 with a GTX 750 Ti) and got a 55.

Next i will test some other systems (i7-4790K with GTX 1070 among others) and compare.
I will also test Gamecube, PS2 and 3DS to see, what CPU/GPU is needed, to play those fluently.
So that in the end i can do a list with those systems, how they performed in benchmark and in playing Gamecube/PS2/3DS.
This list could help other people as an orientation to see, which CPU/GPU is minimum required for emulation of those systems.

I finished also with the upgrade of my bartop. Just to show picture with the PI3 and after with the Asrock-J5005itx. This board should be small enough for most bartops, where you have in general not alot of place on the backpanel because of the screen.

Never imagine to see one day such pervert picture on the screen ....

I made some more upgrade to the new configuration of my bartop. I was seeing that when I transfered all my datas over the net, temperature inside was climbing to 70°, the room is small and the screen also generate some heat, even with vent holes in the bottom and the backside. And not yet summer. So I decided to put a fan for assurance,
and found the place to put a 14cm BeQuit Pure Wings 2 inside and in blowing direction of the cpu cooler.
And what is wonderfull, in the bios from the J5005itx board, you can regulate the speed of the fan as you wish on the cpu fan connector, on the case fan connector just as speed levels. And it's now turning with only 240rpm, on the photo it is running. 🙂 Means, you hear absolutely nothing.

It' s out and official.
AsRock will make a move from the J5005 Itx-board to the Intel J5040 3,2Ghz processor that came out end of last year. So, just to wait.

I just receive the J5040-ITX Board, very difficult to find and already sold out on alot
of places like Neweeg. So, I expect to make the swap this weekend.

I just see, it took 9 month to give birth to it. :)

So, finally, the swap was relative easy as all the holes in the new board stay the same.
And also this time, not to trickle with the two tiny 1,5mm antenna connectors on the
Intel 9569 M2 Wifi/BT board. Very hard to plug inside and you never know, if you broken
or if it will become loose.
