Just a quick question does EmulationStation support video playback in the menu like RetroPie does now?

yes that be a good improve to batocera i have all mi backup with videopreview, you can implement CRT theme ( have all systems config ) with video function in new versión.

Personnally, i'm not.
i lot to keep things simple.
I find this feature nice in a demo, but in pratice, i'm not conviced while i prefer to find search good video game via internet on dedicated websites instead of to install all on batocera then look for a game.

Is not something obligatory for the user, it is a theme that allows to optionally add video preview in addition to the image.

that is only a new emulationstation version compatible with it, you can leave at default the recalbox theme anyway, dont know why not to add this ES updated versión.

the official emulationstation version is not more developped. This is a dead project.
Each project, ie recalbox, batocera, retropie, ... has it's own branch of emulationstation.
Merges of the retropie commits is possible, but not as just update a program version.

if somebody is interested to integrate it, he is welcome.

Hi Denis and Thanks for all work.People tend to forget the long hours people like you spend for our pleasure and its free !
I know you like to keep things simple and that's the reason why you don't want videos preview with but for me videos is much nore self explained than pics and text.
Just my opinion 🙂
Anyway thanks again for all your work et longue vie a Batocera linux !
