Sorry for my many posts!
I am running Batocera on a Laptop (Surface Pro 2) that is connected to my TV via a DVI->HDMI dongle. I also run the Sound via HDMI. To get the Sound going I Need to do the following steps:
Restart Batocera. Sound Option will be set to the STAR Symbol because the Sound Device was not seen at Bootup
IF HDMI1 is seen, select it. Then do NOT reboot. Emulators now Output Sound on HDMI1. Emulation Station still is silent!
IF HDMI1 is not seen, select custom, then reboot. On next reboot HDMI1 will be there.
After HDMI1 was used successfully without rebooting, on the next reboot I am at the STAR Symbol again.
I suspect this has to do with the chain of Events: Batocera boots on internal Laptop display, starts a Process of Emulation Station that then switches the Display to HDMI (as set in my Settings). Audio is most likely enumerated BEFORE that switch so HDMI1 is not available and the STAR is shown. Only when Audio is set to Custom, the HDMI selection will be available in the menu - but will not survive the Reboot.
I have no idea whether this is fixable at all Unless you can kick in another Sound Enumeration AFTER the Display switch and BEFORE the Audio is supposed to kick in.
Thank you, Boris
