we are upgrading several things, for some days, you may encounter compilation errors.
it's almost fixed. i will try to build all the config at the end to confirm it's ok. next week i hope.

i've manage to run partialy batocera 5.16 on s905.
i've now just an issue about the mali drivers but it should not be a big problem while it's in the image only (not the kernel).
suzuke_github does it have a sens to put aml_autoscript.zip and s905_autoscript.zip on top of the usbkey ?
is s905_autoscript and aml_autoscript not enough ?

in my case, the dtb merge doesn't work (on my board), the board is restarting and restarting. but anyway, i'll put all the dtb on the boot directory and add a readme file.

i hope that s905 upgrade is soon finnished ;-)

i've done some fixes for s905 :
- fix kernel (not yet tested) ; crypto api for aarch64 disabled while it doesn't compile on this old kernel with a recent gcc/other tools
- added the hidden dependancy dtc binary. for the moment, it's added via apt to the docker image, not as host-xxx
- others fixes done on odroid c2 (aarch64)

this should fix the s905 (i'm again in holliday tomorrow, i'll build an image soon to confirm)

nadenislamarre conincidentally I just tried to build this again today, and crypto api failed for me with gcc 5.4 on ubuntu 16.04, I was thinking of using gcc 6, but reading your post maybe I should try with an older gcc

@rubenjavier yes, but i cannot remain in gcc 5.x all the time.
now it's working, i'm just a booting issue, i have no time these day, i'll check why this week end probably.

just to let you know, I tried compiling the latest version and failed with:

extern const struct gtype##id mod##gtype##_table \

Im compiling for s912, configuring with:
make batocera-s912_defconfig

I also tried the latest s905 image on my s912 box and it failedto start just as you said, I dont know if it was compiled specifically for s905 and wont work with my dtb file for the s912

If you want, you can compare notes with user shantigilbert from github, he already have a recent version of emulationstation based in Coreelec working and its planning to release another soon:

since Coreelec is a special version of libreelec for Amlogic chipsets, the base its very polished

i have not pushed my fixes. i'll push them this week end to let you compile. it fixes this error among others.

Thanks nadenislamarre , Im using right now Sx05RE Coreelec version with emulationstation, I have to put my dtb file manually, but its working really good:

The graphics drivers are working with OpenglES if you want to check the code

i've finally managed to make all working (not yet fully tested).
but there is one thing i don't understand. i think it's almost ok.

i've manage to solve issues with the s905.
i've build an update image here : http://batocera-linux.xorhub.com/upgrades/s905/beta/
you've still to rename one of the dtb file to dtb.img depending of your hardware.

@suzuke it includes all your changes.
for the dtb i included the merged one, but i didn't named it dtb.img by default because it doesn't work on my machine (and it didn't work at the time you did it too).
i've just an issue about the kernel. not sure all the correct drivers are set for the video. see the commit https://github.com/batocera-linux/batocera.linux/commit/42f9a9b8b7b1952704a608bca7a335d61dfed2ec.
and for an unknown reason, i don't manage to build the mali.ko driver (it's not in the linux sources). even by rebuilding the old sources, i don't get it. very strange, so finally, i stopped to waste to much time, i've just put the mali.ko driver inside the source for the moment.
for the rest, all is ok. it requires tests. (i've not really tested the result).

nadenislamarre I just tried this version with my s912 and it wont boot, just like the last one, Im using the same dbt file I use with all the other libreelec or coreelec images
maybe this image was compiled just for s905?

dmschwartzii yes but both versions share a lot of the code, and since the crypto errors where reported as fixed I tried bulding the s912 version again, but fails in the same spot, so I tried the testing image because I couldnt create one and reported back

i'll try to fix 912, but while i've no such hardware, i'll not be able to test/and fix in case it requires it.
