Wifi randomly disconnects

Shortly after connecting, it will disconnect and it seems that the only fix is to reboot.

This is running on a PC that also runs Windows and when using Windows has no issue with the wifi dongle. So, it's not a signal issue as far as I can tell.

I am using the "Netis WF2116 Wireless N300 Long-Range USB Adapter", found on Amazon here:

I am wondering if a different dongle should be used? (i.e.a drive issue with this particular dongle)

Looking through the forum it seems like similar questions/issues are unanswered, but I am hoping someone here can tell me what they did to make this work. This will be helpful for others who search in the future too, I'm sure.

Is there a particular dongle that is considered "the best", such that it won't have these issues?

I recently switched to Batocera after having similar issues with RecalBox, and I am hoping to get past these network issues.

Please let me know if there is any log file that I can paste that might help.

Actually... I am not having this problem now.

I had this issue on RecalBox and when I initially started Batocera it looked like the same issue was happening since it was not connected, but since I restarted the connection appears to be stable for an hour or so now.

I am able to ping google.com and get consistent 20-30ms times. Whereas on RecalBox, it would start to go to 1000ms or more periodically before the connection would just fail altogether.

So, for whatever Batocera is doing differently here, thanks!

Still, it would be good if there was some documentation on supported wifi dongles and which ones provide more stable connections than others. It would remove much of the guesswork if the latest version of Batocera had some documentation that even listed compatible drivers.

After having it running for over 24 hours I can still ping google.com in around 30ms, so I guess this is not an issue. Yay.

I am liking Batocera and wish I tried switching to it earlier, as it would have saved me some time.

Note for anyone having wifi issues with RecalBox, give Batocera a try!
