johnodon I have an HP Elitebook 8570W which has an Nvidia Quadro K1000M GPU: https://www.nvidia.com/content/pdf/product-comparison/product-comparison-quadro-mobile-series.pdf Which driver should I use? TIA! John
s1dh poke Is there a how-to or kind of procedure that could help me to bundle nvidia 340 legacy driver with batocera ? Thanks for your reply Regards, [ 367.396] (WW) NVIDIA(0): The NVIDIA Second Generation ION GPU installed in this system [ 367.396] (WW) NVIDIA(0): is supported through the NVIDIA 340.xx Legacy drivers. poke s1dh you can use my nvidia-legacy branch as a reference. Source code: https://github.com/tcamargo/batocera.linux/tree/nvidia-legacy But first, you need to setup a development environment. See our wiki for details.
s1dh poke Thank you very much for this info, I found the wiki page . I'll set up a docker container and see how it goes. Thank you Regards,
poke s1dh 340.xx will not compile cleanly with our current kernel. Look for patches. I would recommend you check the archlinux package.
s1dh poke Do you mean that one : https://www.archlinux.org/packages/extra/x86_64/nvidia-340xx/ ? If so , I ' m not sure to understand very well how to gather the pieces of this puzzle š Could you describe the main steps , in order for me to have some checkpoints š Regards,
s1dh Did you meant "check the archlinux package" ... for the patches ? so that would be thos ones šÆ https://git.archlinux.org/svntogit/packages.git/tree/trunk?h=packages/nvidia-340xx and do you mean adapting those patch in the docker build container to install 340.XX drivers into it ?
poke s1dh I just correct some merge problems in my nvidia-legacy branch. if you are still working on 340.xx, i would recommend you refresh your local copy.
s1dh poke In fact , I'm learning docker basics at the moment, (I'm used to FreeBSD jails), and I didn't start the build yet, I need to read a lot of documentation. But for sure I will refresh before doing so . Thanks for your help /advices. Regards,
aspiretoshred poke Hi, thanks so much for working on this! I didn't get a chance to grab the image while it was up, bit would really benefit from it, can you send to me?
chris256 Hello poke ! I think I will try your version since I have a small loss of performance in 5.21 (noticeable on dreamcast) and I think it may be due to the nvidia driver update (my card is a GT 750 Ti). I also hope that it will make gamecube more playable. You said in a post that it is possible to flash with etcher. Should I flash the file that is named boot.tar.xz or batocera-5.21....img.xz ? Thanks!
joinski chris256 For new install flash the ...img.xz For up/downgrading extract the boot.tar.xz to your usb-drive
mabruli Thanks for include old nvidia legacy drivers. I believe that would be nice to have old nvidia drivers always included in x86 32bit distributions designed for "Old Computer". Regards.
mabruli @poke I don't know how to tell exactly... I used the words "Old Computer" refering to the same words used in Download section š I have 2 old computers with nvidia gpu: first one (year 2007) is a sony vaio core2duo gpu nvidia geforce Go 7400, and second one (year 2012) is a dell xps15 core i7 (gen2) gpu nvidia geforce GT 540M. I believe both supports 64bits, but I tested your builds 5.20 and 5.21 and is not working for me (the line nvidia-driver=true is enabled in my config file). Thanks for the support! Regards.
poke mabruli probably 32bit systems are using very old gpus not supported by the 390.xx branch (the one I ship in the nvidia-legacy image). very old gpus should have an equivalent performance to the opensource nouveau driver. that is the case for your 7400 go. i assume your xps15 has both an intel and a nvidia gpu, right? hybrid setups are a problem. you are stick with nouveau. i asked for help to debug the problem some time ago but did not get any reply. see https://batocera-linux.xorhub.com/forum/d/1851-batocera-linux-5-20-with-nvidia-legacy-drivers-390-xx/82
