PS1 (2 second freeze)

Hello all!

Hoping someone can point me in he right direction. Running batocera on a old acer aspire laptop. Everything works great. Love it. Having a laugh or should say getting some good scares out of resident evil 2. Only played the beginning when I was a kid. Good times!

Here is my one gripe. My game seems to freeze in random spots to load more of the game I'm thinking. Now I know the game has places where it will load and take a couple seconds,but my system seems to do it in random spots as well. It's with every game. An example would be it freezing while I'm in mid jump in Crash Bandicoot.

I tried looking through the setting but I'm at a loss. I'm sure this has probably something to do with the computer and possibly the old hard drive. Maybe I need to get a SSD? If anyone can link me to a thread that hit this topic or have any advice id greatly appreciated it.

Looks like I may have fixed it. I tried changing emulator/core to libretto and mednafen, then nothing worked ... Changed it back to auto, still just went to blank screen then back to batocera. Oh sad times. After some tinkering. Hit F1 and went into retroarch and updated the cores and added or I think I added lol pcsx core. Changed it in my psx advance setting and bang. Works. Says I have no bios for some reason. Anyway. Hot key and x brings up a PS3 looking interface which is nice. So I tried crash Bandicoot and it only did the freeze once through a hole run. Resident evil 2 seems to look better and play better as well.

Edit. Still didn't completely fix the issue. But. SSD made everything amazing. If you find your games loading in strange places , I'd say this is your best bet! Batocera rules!
