I only have an older Intel NUC (D54250WYK), but there i also had problems with the internal bluetooth (short range and lag), so i attached a bluetooth usb-dongle. Runs way better with that and that's why i alway suggest to not use internal bluetooth, but buy a bluetooth-dongle instead.

i have several bluetooth usb dongles, which works with Batocera out of the box:
Inateck Bluetooth 4.0
LogiLink BT0007A
Asus USB-BT400

you could also have a look on this compatability list:

It is for recalbox, but batocera should also be compatible with the listed devices there.
