Black Screen on Architecture Type

I've been using Batocera on an old Dell Laptop just fine, and I decided I want to install on the SSD on this laptop. But when booted into the USB stick, I choose the options to install, choose the drive, but when I want to select the Architecture, the screen drops out to a black screen with "batocera.linux" in the upper left corner. Nothing happens after that, and I'm left in limbo.
Any ideas?

dont need reflash drive or somethink like, just im 3 steps you can boot iso file from HDD you wish .

I've just tried a second laptop, no luck installing. It seems from the "Install Batocera" option from the System menu, I can choose my Drive, but when I attempt to choose an architecture, I immediately drop to a black screen with "batocera.linux" text on it. The SSD I'm trying to use is a Samsung EVO 860 SSD, it's not formatted, since it's brand new.

the blackscreen is fixed for the next version.
note that to work, this screen requires a network connection (a message is added about that in the next reelease)

Just an update to my situation. I decided to skip trying to install from the Batocera USB. Instead, I used a SATA to USB adapter to hook up the drive to my PC and used Etcher to burn the IMG onto the drive. I was worried about Batocera not making use of the entire drive, but it seems to be fine.
