Silly question, but necessary for me: Batocera install from DVD possible?

Hello, me again. I got an HTPC with Quadcore CPU on an ASRock Q1900-ITX board. Unfortunately, it seems, that i can't install Batocera 5.20 from USB Pen Stick. In UEFI, no USB boot device is shown. So, my question: Is it possible to burn the img.gz on a DVD and start installation from there? And what do i have to note for doing this (except having a burning program 😃 )?

no. i may do a cdrom to boot batocera but it is not really in the priorities.
you can plug you disk on an other computer to install batocera then change of computer. batocera installation is not related to a computer

Guys, really sorry to ask it also, but my computer (lenovo thinkcentre old model x64 (2.8ghz * 2)) does also not recognize usb bootable keys. i have installed numerous versions of linux on it in the past because they supply .iso images for dvd (bootable). I would like to install Batocera on it, but it fails in any way to recognize the usb drive (tried different ways of burning too). it would help a lot if there only was a simplified image for dvd or even cdrom burning, which only had the option to install Batocera on that given system. it does not need to be anything special, only an way to install batocera on older computers. it would not even matter if it would be in textmode via internet connection. (netinstall)

well i found a way around this. i saw someone recommend ploplinux somewhere, because you can install an plop boot order menu if you boot from this iso (dvd plop version 19 (- 2.3 gb iso)).
(you do not need to install the entire os, or boot into it !)
so i burned it on a dvdrw, and booted from this iso., at first i had some difficulties because my old
pc would boot right through the menu, (keyboard defect - typematic rate setting, cannot alter it - so if i press enter at the bios boot menu for booting from cd/dvd it registers multiple enter keypresses sometimes), but then i got in, so you must select install plop boot order menu, then install option 1 (as i recall), and reboot (remove dvd from drive). quickly enter your usb stick in the usb socket during reboot, and wait. if everything goes well you get to see some fancy (demoscene looking) menu which allows you to boot from usb or dvd or hdd. ! now it worked ! i installed batocera and its done !

That is a interesting solution 😄. Another possibility is to open up the laptop, unplug the harddrive, plug it with SATA->USB adapter (or inside SATA cable) to another computer and install batocera that way. After installation put the harddrive back in the laptop and it should work. Most laptops (not Apple) should be possible to open relatively simply and there is often videos on Youtube how to do it.
