HP 6005 PC "non system disk error" won't boot

Hello,
I am excited to try this out but am running into issues getting Batocera to work.

I have a HP 6005 pro desktop, no hard drive, 4 gigs of ram.

things I have tried to get this to work.
-burned iso image on to 2 different thumb drives
-tried in both the front and back usb ports.
-disable all other boot devices in the bios
-looked for boot security options and didn't see anything in the BIOS
-tried Batocera 5.20 and 5.19

one thing I did notice that is different than the install instructions is there are only like 3 files on the thumb drive after burning the iso file. and not the 10 files that are shown in the install instructions.

any tips or ideas of what I am doing wrong?
I have tried using etcher and win32 disk imager.

At first i would try to test (with another PC), that your USB-drive, where you installed Batocera on, is okay. If it works with another PC, then the problem has to be with the HP 6005 pro desktop.
Then i would try to figure out, how to access the boot menu (on some machines the boot menu opens up by pressing F11 after power up).

And then there is something, that i noticed on some of my PCs:
If you have an error message like "no bootable device found" or what you have "non system disk error", just press STRG+ALT+DEL on a connected keyboard, to reboot the machine. This helped me sometimes.

I tried it on another PC and it didn't not work. at the root directory of my thumb drive there are 2 folders, one called boot and the other called EFI and one file called recalbox-boot.conf

is this correct? hoping to get this working. doesn't seem like it should be this difficult.

any ideas?

Seems to look fine with the folders and files on your thumb drive.

Try the following:
Format your thumb drive completely, delete all partitions on it and create it new with windows disk management (or other tools, if you are not using windows).
Then download Batocera again, open Etcher and select the downloaded file (you do not need to extract it before, just select the file "batocera-5.20-x86_64-20190118.img.gz"), then select your thumb drive and press Flash".
After that, take your thumb drive to any friend or family member, who owns a PC or Notebook and try to boot from it.

You could also try to use older versions of Batocera:
5.19

And you could also try the 32bit x86 versions (for older computers):

You should also try different thumb-drives.

If none of this versions will boot on any PC/Notebook for you, then i do not know what you are doing wrong. For me batocera works an almost all computers.

Still couldn’t get it to work... ended up trying to install Ubuntu and it booted no problem. Guess I will be running retropie through Ubuntu...

access the bios and make sure secure boot is turned off and enable legacy support.
when you reboot pres F9 to access the boot menu and select the flash drive.
