Feature request / Roll back to previous version

Hi Guys,

As Batocera continues to grow, there are often issues with new releases.

Could you add the option in the Start menu to roll back to a previous version of Batocera until all bugs are fixed?

It would be easier for NOOBS this way

Second this feature!! Had updated to version 5.27.. now to be greeted with longer loading times / black screens.. and now n64 games might load up one minute and freeze the next (can only see the bezel / controls don’t respond). While none of these flaws had been apparent back in version 5.26. Where in 5.26 my all in one (aio) PC acted just like a game console. Hit the power and within seconds (instead of minutes) loaded right into the menu screen! Was so awesome!

Understand the need for program / software progression.. but wish software programs would all just have a compatible base version.. that extra bells, whistles and possible program breaks could become more like kodi addon’s. Where if something messes up you could just uninstall that 8k support addon because your device isn’t 8k compatible etc.. Wishful thinking though I guess.. 🧐 …

TonyR It doesn’t exist in the gui, but it does exist in the command line.

The last upgrade broke my system and I was about to give up.

Rolling back to 5.26 worked perfectly, everithing is like before

Ok, last post
i was going to give up and found a thread where ordovice recommended to just roll back

The command was:

batocera-upgrade https://batocera.org/upgrades/x86_64/stable/last/archives/20200527/

and that did it, now is working like before and i couldn’t be happier

Instead of double posting, figured that I’d update my post.. 🕹️

The latest 5.27.2 update seemed to have fixed the issues I was having before 👍. An after searching around on the forums a bit came across a boot up time discussion. Where one of the members had explained how all of the games scraped data (images, videos, descriptions, etc) adds up overtime and can prolong batocera’s startup time. Which makes absolute sense if you think about. As I’ve used front-ends before, but never realized the longer loading times as I’m usually always multi tasking while on my PC. Completely relived that there isn’t any issue at hand and won’t have to go through the prolonged process of starting all over again 😊.
