N64, GameCube, PSX, Dreamcast many ROMs not working

Hello all, just wondering if this is a common issue? I'm finding it very hit or miss getting games on these systems to work at all. I'll try to launch a game and get a brief black screen then exit back to Batocera. I've tried various copies of ROMs from different places as well as switching to different cores and playing with all the settings I can find. Is there some kind of log I can look at to see what's happening when these games are trying to start? Any help is appreciated. Other than that I've been having a blast playing with this!

EDIT: My setup is:

64 bit Batocera on live USB
Old Dell Optiplex 755 Core2duo
2 gb RAM
1gb Radeon 6450 low profile graphics card
No HDD or SSD
No network at the moment, though I have set up WiFi with dongle that is not currently plugged in
Using a second flash drive to transfer ROMs from a Windows PC as well as an Android device over otg

Are these certain games that do not work? Or does it affect all games (sometimes they work and sometimes not)?
Could you name a few games, that do not work?

Only certain games. Games I've tested that do work for GameCube: Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime. Doesn't work: Wind Waker. Tried several different copies of it. There seems to be an error at the end of a log file I found in the system directory. I'm not able to access it ATM. I want to say it ended with a -1. With PSX games that are working: Crash Team Racing, Spyro. Klonoa, Breath of Fire 4 crash. Dreamcast, Crazy Taxi and Sonic Adventure work, while Skies of Arcadia, Grandia 2, Jet Grind Radio crash. N64, GoldenEye, Paper Mario work, Banjo Kazooie, Mario 64, Ocarina of Time crash.

If only certain games do not work, then it is up to the games themselves (either because they are bad dumps or not compatible with the emulator).
Did you try different cores with PSX and N64 and did you have a look at the compatability lists of the emulators?

I think you're probably right about that. Took me a few different copies of GoldenEye and Twilight Princess for those to run as well. Do you know how to decipher the error log?
