Ethernet Works But WiFi Does Not Connect

Recently switched over to Batocera on an old laptop. It is great but when I want to move roms or doing anything online I need to carry the laptop to a hardwired location. I have tried my built-in network adapter and a dongle, but neither worked. I have also made sure my SSID and KEY have no special characters. Nothing works. Does anyone have any more troubleshooting suggestions besides what I have read on here so far? Thanks!

are you transferring from a windows or linux machine

It's a Lenovo laptop that was a Windows PC until a couple years ago when I started running Ubuntu on it. I deleted all partitions and now it single boots to Batocera.

biffwebster I have a usb wifi adapter i cant install the drivers to, so that means that i cant make it work. Its gonna be hardwired for me.. Can it be a driver issue for you to?

I think it is both for me as well. No way to tell if drivers for laptop wifi adapter are there and I have a NetGear usb adapter that also does not work.

I have also been unable to get wifi to connect, with an HP laptop or an Android s905x box, both of which have built-in wifi.I can only guess it's driver issues which I do not have the expertise to figure out. The alternatives to SMB share that I have used OK are to copy stuff over from an external drive plugged directly into the Batocera device using the F1 user interface in Batocera (which gives you a file manager) or make the share partition readable by Windows (there are threads here on how to do that) so you can do it with any Windows device you plug the Batocera drive in to.

WiFi seems to be a real issue on this version from reading here and on reddit. I guess I will have to lpug in every so often to check for updates and add roms. Love Batocera though!

try transferring from a linux machine to you batocera machine. my windows machine does not see my batocera machine either sure its some kind on config problem but not sure what. seems to work perfect when both use samba

I had trouble at first getting wifi to connect, but eventually it did. At first, I was trying to connect to my hidden 5GHz channel, but it wouldn't work. Input my broadcasting 2.4GHz channel SSID and Password and that got me online! This was on the 5.20 build on a 64GB Lexar USB drive on a Dell Laptop.
