No sound from chtrt5645

Hi, hope someone could point me in the right direction to get sound working on a lattepanda please. Neither Jack or HDMI are outputting audio.

In dmesg I see the following...
MUSIC Error - Unable to open SDLMixer audio: ALSA: Couldn't open audio device:

In alsamixer I can set device as chtrt5645 and all channels are unmuted.

In batocera, vol level is always 0 and device is shown as a *

Any ideas please?

1 - on batocera press ALT+STRL+F4 and you will enter on sound config
2 - press F6 and choose your sound card and activate to 00 with M. go back implement sound on devices.
3 - choose hdmi0 ,if you ear a beep just restart and you got sound,

Sorry but as I had already mentioned in my original post, the chtrt5645 is already selected in alsamixer and the channels are unmuted.
Following your steps did not make any difference.

In Batocera>sound options the only devices shown are *, auto, and custom.
None of those give me sound.

In order to get the video working I had to set xrandr to use HDMI2.

I would prefer to get audio via HDMI but at the moment neither HDMI or audio jack give me any sound.
Any help would be appreciated.

What do you see in Kodi under System, System Settings, Audio, Audio output device?

but it is greyed out

Could you try with another flash /usb drive and test a new burned image of the current 5.21 beta and direct after first boot, without going into Sound Settings of ES, go directly to Kodi and have a look under Audio output device, if there are more entries?

OK I tried a fresh copy of the latest beta, and went straight into Kodi (after changing display to HDMI2 via ssh)...

Kodi set to Default(chtrt5645 Analog) as before

grey'd out as before, not showing any other audio devices.

In Alsamixer device was muted so unmuted but still no sound from jack or HDMI

aplay -l shows this ...

When i just google "chtrt5645" i find many threads in several linux/ubuntu forums, where people have problems, to get sound.
So it seems to be a general problem regarding this device (chtrt5645) with linux.

I also struggle to make the sound work on my gpd win (also chtrt5645) under sound settings/output device there is AUTO, CUSTOM and 2 blank spaces but when selected one of thoses blankspaces and rebooting it become writen (0,0) for the firts line and (1,0) for the second line.
Seems that it correspond to the audio output channel that we can found under alsamixer.
But even when unmuted within alasmixer still no luck.
also get the message in DMESG
"Audio Port: ASoC: no backend DAIs enabled for Audio Port"

Only way i found to have the sound is to stick an external usb sound card, go to kodi then exit to ES then i have sound only in ES (i also had to put openal audio driver activated in retroarch, then restart retroarch to have it work)
