there is an option to boot kodi by default when batocera start.

@nadenislamarre I've modified the script so far that the reset button can exit any running emulator. If you are in ES main screen and press reset then EmulationStation will be restarted with /etc/init.d/S31emulationstation restart command. Instead of just "restarting ES" it would be nice to launch up KODI via button. I think it's possible to do.

[deleted] I'm new to Batocera and linux in general so there has been a lot of trial and error for me. I ran your script from WinSCP while connected to my Raspberry Pi 3 with NESPi case+ and got an error message. Not sure if it is the reason your script didn't work on my pi. Does the system need to be read/write before running the script? Like mount -o remount,rw / or another command? Not sure if I did that before running your script. I am also on Batocera 5.21.

Error Message:

@Slomies Can you check if file /recalbox/batocera.version is present? This file decides to use the Recalbox install or an install for Batocera. The file seems to be missing in Batocera 5.21 so you can tell me the path? Then I can fix this very easily...
It's a bit of shame, that through version 5.20 and 5.21 so much changes in filepathes were made ... Me for myself I decided to stick to 5.20 as long as some errors were not resolved.
@Ckau Yes unable Uart in /boot/config.txt with enable_uart=1 but this can cause to slow down the Pi.
Which version of Batocera are you using?

[deleted] I'm on Batocera 5.21 and there is no /recalbox/batocera.version file present. I searched for the file and it is in /overlay/base/usr/share/batocera and /usr/share/batocera.

Okay try the installer again.... I fixed it with if [[ -e /recalbox/batocera.version || -e /usr/share/batocera/batocera.version ]] statement... thank you.

Ckau Can you take a look if there is a python and a bash script is located in /recalbox/share/scripts folder?
If not then I have to take a closer look to the system greater 5.20 as I already said since 5.21 there were lots of changes in pathes. Because I'm still on 5.20 and it works flawless there.

Ckau Thanks that looks very promising.
But there is annother script in this folder. SafeShutdown.py You seem to got this from annother script installation. You can try to edit /recalbox/share/system/recalbox.conf and comment or delete the line system.power.switch=PIN356ONOFFRESET it should be the last line and it's unneeded as long as the script is running.

Can you post content of /recalbox/share/system/custom.sh please?

Ckau I've tested right now with fresh install of Batocera. I will modify script to make it work better. As I said .... deactivate all entries in recalbox.conf with system.power.switch

I will modify the installer asap to make this better work. Thx with LED hint. In RetroPie it is not usefull to activate this in Batocera/Recalbox the pin needs to be activated indeed.

About the RESET button. It works... It terminates any emulator and it restarts ES.

Ckau The archive you posted contained an old recalbox.config maybe from a preinstalled version. Well I am sure you figure out.

@nadenislamarre sorry did not make any PR now. I think with some bug removal 5.22 will be a great leap forward. Some features in 5.21 like the default overlays are amazing and will push Batocera for sure 😁

[deleted] Sorry for the delay in testing and THANK YOU for updating the script! I did a fresh install of 5.21 and installed your script using WinSCP and everything works great! LED light is on, reset works to exit roms... THANK YOU! Fingers crossed that 5.22 doesn't break the script. However if it does, I'll just stick with 5.21 🙂

Slomies I'm sure the next releases won't break this. There is no dependecy as long as there is a symbolic link /recalbox/share and as long the path following this link can be written from a script outside.

I also don't think that there are any more changes in /etc/init.d/ directory. It’s a long way to Tipperary

bandabanda That is possible.
edit script with nano /recalbox/share/scripts/recalbox_SafeShutdown.py

and change line 54/55 to ...

 		elif output:
os.system(scriptDir + "/recalbox_SafeShutdown.sh --kodi")

Then you can start Kodi with the reset button if you are in ES main screen.
