xarcade2jstick not starting on raspberry

hello everyone, i have a problem with an xarcade dual stick, i have a netbook installed with batocera, where it loads xarcade2jstick as expected on bootbut for some reason it dosnt load on my raspberry pi 3b+.
i see this in the logs, but nothing happends.
it will only registers as keyboard on boot and i only see this in the logs about xarcade2jstick:

[ 6.20] : starting xarcade2jstick
[ 6.28] : xarcade2jstick : no official stick found, looking for keyboard encoder now ...

if i ssh into the pi and start xarcade2jstick manually it seems to work fine:

i realized that i can run a program when emulationstation starts, by creating the file custom.sh, however it seems to me that Xarcade2Joystick is just started way too early on raspberry, resulting in the joystick not being initialized yet, when Xarcade2Joystick is started by the boot process, and is therefore not detected.

i just updated yesterday and the problem still persists.
also after updating, the permissions of the file i made was changed and i had to make it executable again after the update or it would again not start xarcade2jstick.
this seems like something that could be easily fixed by delaying the execution of xarcade2jstick on boot ... anyone?
