Why doesn't Batocera use all the space on USB drives?

I've been trying for over 2 hours to get my Windows 7 PC to connect to Batocera over wifi unsuccessfully. I believed that it would be easy to just copy my roms over to the usb stick locally, but I noticed that the partition that batocera .img created was only around 3gb. I tried to resize the partion to use all the available space, but that made Batocera unbootable.

Is there a way to disable Batocera's managing of the empty space on the usb drive and transfer the files locally?

all the space is used.
the limitation is on windows which is unable to read it.

I know that Paragon makes a driver that works for ext2, ext3, and ext4 in windows

I'm guessing it's probably not one of those file systems though. Yesterday I was finally able to use a program called winSCP (which i've never heard of) to transfer my roms after finding this thread of someone having the same problem as I did: https://forum.recalbox.com/topic/5077/assistance-needed-please-trying-to-connect-pi3-recalbox-to-ethernet-to-transfer-roms-with-filezilla

Kind of wish there were better guides to this around the site though.

Map Network the drive to Batocera . Take whatever Drive letter you want and type in the following as the location
//BATOCERA/Shared/
This should start showing it as a network drive and your this computer folder
