Full Image Backup

Would it be possible to get a full image backup of the entire install + roms + images + directories

If not then would it be possible to at least clone the drive and would it work as expected? All my stuff in on a single SSD, I am doing a lot of custom configurations, and yes I could just save files off but i always forget 1 or 2 or forget to copy versions of the file off and thus have an imperfect system.

I would think and external clone drive would work?

Yes you can. That's called Disk Cloning and Imaging.

If you're on Windows, i recommend Macrium Reflect. It's easy and free.
On the linux side, the trustable Clonezilla.

There's also a lot of paid software for this, but in my opinion, stick with the one that fits you best for your needs.

GameCast Win32DiskImager can manage larger img files? What about the size? Since is a RAW image file, that wouldn't be an full-size disk image? (ex: SSD 128GB ==> RAW 128 GB img?)

BernoO yes it can, cause people from PI3 comunity almoast use this app for bacup sd card .. but i am not sure if this app detect SSD as flashdrive . just test it and comment the result maibe helps other people to .

Hi all,

I'm having a nightmare trying to clone my HDD to another HDD with Clonezilla. The clone process goes through ok on Clonezilla, but my new drive is not bootable. I dont think Clonezilla is cloning the MBR/GPT on my HDD!

Please excuse my stupidity, I'm a new noob! Any suggestions, would be greatly appreciated.

peterp I would try it with AOME PE Builder 2.0. It is a live OS for recovery and stuff and it runs from the RAM of your PC.
There is a tool for disk/partition clone on the live OS.
I used this method in the past to backup stuff. I even once cloned a bootable USB with a portable OS to my HDD and the OS booted from the HDD afterwards. Maybe you can give it a try.

Just define your data disk as NTFS and you can backup it in Windows with wathever you want.

I would also recommend Macrium Reflect under Windows. Easy to use and free. Just connect your Source HDD with batocera and clone it on a new HDD or save the backupfile on your system.

*edit: Macrium Reflect refused to see my batocera hdd as connected. So i tried Aomei Backupper Standart wich does an great job with only a few clicks.

can anyone help am trying to also clone my micro sd to micro sd

I tried this method to try clone a card using win32 - i realised Sandisk sd card are not great and Samsung evo can do the 128gb card better - when cloning i never click the READ ONLY ALLOCATED PARTITIONS i noticed it backed up the card it was fine with out clicking that box however when restoring it to Sandisk it said i didnt have enough space…when restoring to a Samsung it was fine

HOWEVER, the issue is instead of displaying 58 systems and the games it shows only 8 systems and 1 game in each one…not sure why Do i need to click the READ ONLY ALLOCATED PARTITIONS and backup the image again and then restore it to an sd card.. am going mental trying to figure it out…can’t use ether as it says the image it too big the other thing how can i remove some ROMs from the sd image or original sd card as I can not see the option on the pi4 or when in batocera
