Issue with PCI Graphics card - Geforce GT 710 2 GB

Hi there.

I am in the process of refurbishing another old Windows machine into a Recalbox machine.

Now for the issues.

I have installed a Geforce GT 710 2 GB graphics card, which appears to be extremely laggy (slow menus), no audio, and worst of all, the options menus is blank!

Looking at the specs for this card, I thought all would be fine!

The open GL version is 4.5, so I don't think this would be an issue.

The strange thing is, if I use the built in graphics, everything runs a lot faster (also has open GL 3.0). And no menus disappear.

The motherboard from what I can tell is reasonably good, has a 3GHz processor and 2 Gig of RAM.

Can anyone explain why Batocera does not seem to like this PCIe card?

noelburke82 Nothing .... the nouveau driver does not give more if ... and all you are going to have are problems with nvidia graphics ... the best thing is that you try to get the video through the integrated intel, if you have. .

The open GL version on the built in graphics is too low for some games, which is why I installed a graphics card.

Will more cards be supported in the future?

while i cannt say much for the gt 710, i can say that the gt 730 ddr3 and the gt 640 is working ok, only laggy with wii and gamecube games. whats your cpu?

The CPU is a Intel i5-2500K @ 3.30GHz.
RAM is 2048 MB (DDR3) running @ 1333 MHz.
I have a 60GB SSD running Batocera Linux.
I have tweaked all settings for optimum performance. The motherboard is running at a cool 32 Degrees C.

I don't think the CPU is an issue by any means, as I have had Batocera running on much lower spec computers. I am currently testing with three different machines (PC 64 bit), and in all cases the Video Cards are what lets everything down.

If the NVidia Geforce Series hadbetter support, that would be great.

Aside from the obvious issues with some emulators (Like N64), I think the issues boil down to better Graphic Card Support.

I do not seem to have much issues, i have a old e8500 cpu on an old 4gb ddr2 motherboard, the gt 640 i have in it now runs everything fine becides gamecube and wii. Even still some gamecube games like burnout runs perfect.

Before the nvidia geforce gt 640 i had a gt 730 and a hd 5450 (very low end card) and the performance was almost the same. On the same pc i have a dual boot, when i launch the dolphin emulator in windows everything is very smooth with a few tweeks.

If someone could tell me how to add graphics cards to the code, I'll alter it myself!

@noelburke82 you'll not found somebody telling you how to do it
and programs delivered by nvidia or similar are not intended to run on platform like batocera.
everything that you do in batocera must be understood and done by yourself, without almost any help.
You can however use the batocera webchat (irc) to get some starting points. Personnally, i used the irc to chat with the nouveau (open nvidia drivers for linux) main developper and similar irc to manage to do some things.

first, choose the target you want :
- the last nouveau driver ?
- the nvidia official driver ?
i'm currently doing a technical migration for batocera, probably 5.7 which will upgrade several things and may help on the 1st point.

Hi guys, need some help here.
I just bought a Geforce GTX 1060, all drivers are installed.
Before i've install the gpu, Batocera worked pretty well, except Gamecube emulator.
After with the new gpu, batocera turn to a slow mode.
I don't know whats happened, but it's impossible to play any emulator with this issue.
Nadenislamarre, i know there's another people with this same issues.
We need your help, man.

Nothing past the 740-series (pre maxwell) and the old revision of 750ti (1gen Maxwell) is currently working properly because it's nvidia's fault, they don't share the code necessary.

Im interested in this also. I have an old Dell Optiplex 380 that has the onboard GPU and i can't run Gamecube/Wii because the GPU doesn't support OpenGL 3.0. It has the standard VGA port and i was planning on ordering a new GPU this friday to hook up HDMI to my HDTV. Does anyone know what would be the best or most compatible card for this to go for Gamecube/Wii/PS2/Dreamcast?
