After batocera 5.20+ DreamCast games in rpi3 is not in 16/9

Friends, as i can see here, the Batocera Linux, after the 5.20+ versions in DreamCast is not respecting the configuration maded in "Video Mode" or im size "16/9" defined ...

For example, i have an smart TV 32" Samsung and all fine for 16/9 until 5.19 batocera linux ...

After 5.20, even if i set "16/9" instead "auto" and even if i set Video mode to :"1280x760 16/9 60Hz" or other resolutions in "16/9" modes, the games are not in this setting ...

For example, i have tested sonic adventures 1 : The menus and other scenes are in 4:3 , the game playing is in 16/9 ... why ?

So, i have tested too the Crazy Taxi 1 and 2 : The menus and include the game playing, is all in 4:3 ....

For me, it appears to be an bug in this newer versions not respecting settings maded for this emulators ...

In old versions until 5.19 the bug is "reverse" ...all games is always in 16/9 ...not in 4:3 even if set to do it ...but in newer versions is reversed ...now, the games is only in 4:3 and not in 16/9 always ....

N64 for example, in 5.20, 5.21 still in 16/9 always ....if set to 4:3, remains in 16/9 ...

I believe it's a bug in Video mode and Ratio settings , because not respecting the configs maded in this settings ....

Could more people report having same problem ? I have maded Full clean install to see, and not solve...

This is what the game behaves. It seems to be programmed like this.
There are even more games, where it is the same (Sega GT for example, there you also have black bars at the sides in some option menus, but as soon as you start a race and you are controlling a car, the screen is in 16/9).
So it is not a problem of batocera, but a game specific issue.

As i already answered in discord: i just tested crazy taxi 1 and 2, marvel vs. capcom 2, sega gt, sonic adventure 1 and 2 and in all games i have 16/9 without problems, when i set Game Ratio to 16/9. Only in some games while you are in certain menus (when choosing between 50 or 60Hz for example, or in main or options menu) or intro screen/video there are sometimes then black bars at the sides (it is like 4/3 then), but when you are in the actual game (when controlling the characters or cars), the screen is 16/9 widescreen. I tested it on all my TVs/Monitors.

I will now test some games i found, that support widescreen (but anamorphic):

@ all other people using Batocera an a RPi3(b+):
Could you also test the behaviour of version 5.21 regarding Dreamcast, when you set Game Ratio to 16/9 under Game Settings, Advanced, Dreamcast on your TV?
This would help to see, if luizthiago is the only one having issues with it.

joinski Ok, i understand about this, but for me it's not "game problems" as you related because, until 5.19 version of batocera, all is fine about it for me...all games (and these menus) are in 16/9 here......so :

How it can be "game problem" if old versions of batocera has 16/9 in all times ?

I don't know how this issue (default game ratio) was handled in previous versions like 5.19 for example.
That's a question you have to ask one of the devs.

For me it does not matter, which aspect ratio is the default one, as long as you have the choice and can switch to a functional 4/3 ratio, if you want to.

But, until 5.19 all is fine about the 16/9 for DC...

I believe the "black bars" or "colored Bars" in the sizes of DC games if selected 16/9 is an problem because, as i said : until 5.19 16/9 is OK for all games, even the Sonic Adventures for example in menus/videos.... i have no problem regarding this in batocera 5.19...

for the moment has two "problems" for DC occuring in batocera :

1) Date/Time setting always play a DC game (bios problem ?)

2) 16/9 format is working for most games only "in game" scenes... In intro / video / menus is in 4:3 with black or colored bars in sides of screem....

so maybe @nadenislamarre can fix this with a script?
for me personally it is not an issue... just press d-pad right a few times and then b-button and the prompt is gone.
ok, it is a bit annoying to do this every time you start a game, but hey... there are much worse things 😉

Regarding 2) 16/9 format:
i think @nadenislamarre has to figure out, what changed between 5.19 and 5.20/5.21 with reicast (maybe an update of reicast and those "in game" scenes in intro /video/menus are now beeing emulated differently? did you check the changelog of different reicast releases? or did you try to find something via google regarding this issue?)
for me personally this is also not an issue... because i prefer to play games in their native format/aspect ratio (i hate it, when the image is stretched unnaturally and i can not understand people, that like the picture to be stretched, so that heads/balls for example are deformed like an american football and not round, like they should be.

joinski Here i noted this :

DreamCast games only have problem of date/time set always in the bios if the settinghs is in default or in 4:3 ..if i set videomode to "monitor 1280 x 720 P75Hz 16/9" i dont have to enter date time...it's very strange...
For me, im my case, i prefer to play DreamCast games in 16/9 (all games i prefer to play in 16/9 ...but for DC the resolutions is always 4:3 in menus etc... in game, in majory of games tested it is in 16/9...

I dont understand why, because until 5.19, all OK regarding this...

1 is supposed to be fix in 5.22. you may have to delete the configs/reicast folder to make it work.
2 i know that reicast has some bugs about it. maybe due to a reicast upgrade. i've to test and check.
