Impossible to pair bluetooth controllers since 5.21

Hi everyone! Hope you will be able to help
Batocera version: 5.21
Device: Raspberry PI 3 B+, Odroid XU4
Controllers: PS4, 8Bitdo SN30
I've upgraded my Raspberry PI and my Odroid with the 5.21 version. All my controllers were working with bluetooth in 5.20, and have been working with the 5.21 version. Due to some issues regarding buttons configuration with my SN30 on my Raspberry PI, I've decided to erase all my bluetooth controllers in the config menu and restart the pairing process. Since, I've not been able to pair my SN30 (I have 2 of them) or my PS4 controller with bluetooth. The only results that I have are: "impossible to connect the the controller" or "controller associated". But even if have this information, the controller is still in pairing mode (I did the test with the PS4 and the SN30), but it is not paired. I can only use my controllers with a cable.
I also had to completely reinstall Batocera 5.21 on my Odroid (for another reason), but even with a fresh new version, I cannot pair my PS4 controller with bluetooth (and I have exactly the same information as with my Raspberry PI - same pattern). Unfortunately I cannot use ssh / command line, so I'm not able to try another method. Do you have any idea?

I'm having the same with Xbox one controllers. I've used internal and usb dongle bluetooth.

nadenislamarre Hi, I did that on the raspberry pi, but it was not working. And on the Odroid, I've installed a fresh new version of Batocera 5.21, no bluetooth controller were paired at that time. When I tried to pair the PS4 controller, it was not possible. It's very weird... Either on Raspberry PI or Odroid, I can only play with usb cable

I got a problem with the PS4 controller since 5.21 i can pair it but from time to time games are freezing and the emulator is crashing.
I don't know how many Times i followed the instructions ( forgot device, reconnect )

I also am having the same problem with my 8bitdo controllers. Weird this I was able to pair it the first time, but couldn't configure the controller. I unpaired my blutooth controllers and when I would try to repair the controller it would immediately say it was unable to pair.

which 8bitdo controllers do you have exactly?
you know, that there are different pairing-modes with 8bitdo controllers? (switch mode, xinput, dinput etc.)
did you try all different pairing-modes?

I am using Odroid XU4 with the official USB bluetooth

I also have this problem since 5.21. I use a standard USB BT Dongle which always worked flawless. When I now try to pair my 8BitDo (Linux Mode active) Batocera imediately says "Device found" but does not pair. I assume that he just checks for any existing BT device (in this case the dongle) but does not pair any peripherals

EDIT: of course I used the "forgot devices" function

you could test other pairing modes (switch mode for example).
which 8bitdo controller do you have?
i have sf30 and sf30 pro.
i will test them with current stable 5.23 and current beta of 5.24 in the evening and report, which pairing mode is working.

Thanks for the reply! I use XU4 with external USB Bluetooth Dongle and I have an SN30 pro (love it). Already tried out Windows und Android Mode. I saw no use in tesing switch/mac mode but I can give it a try tonight. It is a bit sad because it worked in the past. I will also try to connect my xbox one x controller (gen 2 with BT) to pair with the dongle, maybe this will give us a hint for the root cause. I will also try it with Batocera 5.23 on Pi3.. oh dear, friday night, debugging night 😃

Hi joinski,k I have tried all modes and even my xbox one controller. nothing was able to connect.
trying to connect the 8bitdo controller, it immediately says "device connected" but it's not.. controller still in paring mode.
Connecting my XBOX Controller I am ending in a infinite loading screen.

Using the dongle at my PC or Raspberry Pi2 works fine.

I will try out the SSH method by end of the week

Oh okay, i do not own a XU4 and i only tested my 8bitdo controllers on PC and Pi3, where i had no issues so far.

There is a guide for manual pairing, take a look at the Batocera wiki ... as long as the BT dongle is recognized by the system it's very likely to get a working setup.

Pair modes ANDROID/iCade .... who knows.
Usually just use the directinput mode.
