Controllers no longer working

Hello , installed 5.21 x86 64. My controllers no longer work in most of the emulators...still works on n64. Tried reinstalling no luck. Tried different controllers no luck

What am I doing wrong. I do use external drive for roms

To add it works fine in emulation station. Just not in the emulators

Well. I must have had a corrupt file. Deleted the entire share file except my bios and roms...rebooted...moved my bios and roms back into the share file and it works flawlessly.
