Change resolution system

Hi guys

I have an older tv that's only 1080i so when I use HDMI the screen don't fit some of the screen is cut and the screen shakes a bit. How can I change the resolution on system level to a lower resolution? If possible to 720p

well i tried some wiki's and i got it to 720p but then i only got a black screen. is there an easy way? i know some code and how to use putty.

Boot. Press f1. Look at the boot file and modified for 1280 x 720 i think

angelus9151 I tried to edit the batocera conf file. But without success.

Can anyone help? I want to use a 720p resolution with HDMI. Tried several things but no luck.

@tris20 Which batocera version and platform are you using? In 5.22 for x86/x86_64, we are setting the resolution to whatever value you put in global.videomode.

I am using beta 3 5.22 x64. Tried the global video thing but didn't work.

Can you point me in the right direction or an preview of the code. The tv does support 720p 60hz

tris20 try to use xrandr for a terminal to get the right resolution. i dont remember how to set monitor freq in xrandr. maybe it is not possible via global.videmode. anyway, if you can do it directly via xrandr, let me know. then i can see how to incorporate a change to solve your problem.

poke hi Poke. I have a laptop, when I connect the hdmi cable to a 24″ lcd, Batocera starts at 800×600. If I press f1 and with xterminal I use xrandr and change the resolution to 1920×1080 it works, but when I close the file manager the emulationststion window is small, like still in 800×600 window in a 1920×1080 screen. I used the command exec emulationstation –windowed and the new emulationstation window is 1920×1080. I cant get Batocera to start at 1920×1080 through HDMI. I also create the custom.sh file with no positive results. Any idea?

I tried with xander to but with no success. You can close this thread. I use a vga cable for the time being. Because this tv is gonna replaced soon

Tomasmorales Poke has not posted for years. I’m doubtful they still check this forum.

Anyway, you can refresh ES’s resolution by pressing F4 on the keyboard.

With that said you shouldn’t be manually changing the resolution with xrandr anyway because of issues like this. Why not use batocera-resolution, the built in command line tool for changing the resolution?

Atari thanks for the reply. I tried your way, with batocera-resolution. If I use the force resolution it work just like the xrandr command and changes the file editor resolution. Once I close and return to emulationstation, I have a 720p screen and inside a 800×600 window with emulation station. If I press f4 all returns to 800×600 resolution. I have not idea what is going on.

Tomasmorales Hm, that sounds a bit more concerning. ES should always be taking the full screen. Could you maybe make an issue report on the Github with the revelant information and see what comes of it?

Atari HI Atari. I fixed it (Felix would be very proud of me haha). The issue was emulationstation resolution, I edited the emulationstation-standalone config file, had to uncomment xrandr line and put 1280×720. After that batocera-save-overlay command at xterminal and once I reboot the system was working at 720p. Hope this helps some one else I the future.
