"Upgrade" from Recalbox to Batocera

I'm using Recalbox on my RPI3, but I like to "convert" over to Batocera. Since I needed a lot of time to copy all my roms to the sdcard I like to know if it's possible to "upgrade" from recalbox to betacera?

Will it work, if I just drop http://batocera-linux.xorhub.com/upgrades/rpi3/stable/last/boot.tar.xz into my sdcard?

No, it will not work.
technically, the 5.x of batocera means a very big change at the architecture level.

batocera has now 2 partitions, one visible from windows, and an other one for the data.
while recalbox has 3 partitions.
if you have a partition tool, you can remove the 2nd recalbox partition and extend the 1rst partition.

the faster is to create a new card and synchronize from a linux machine.
an other way is to save on a usb key from recalbox (i made a script for that if you know how to connect with ssh), and then, do the same on batocera.

Wow thanks for that quick answer. Guess I'm better off starting from beginning and copy all roms over ssh. Can you provide the script please?

btw, you mentioned very big architecture differences between Recalbox and Batocera. What are those changes? And why?
I heard you had some "differences" with the recalbox devs. So just to clear up the current situation, you left the "team" and forked Recalbox. I still don't understand the differences between recalbox and batocera, except there are builds for x86 and Odroid (and there are more frequent updates). Maybe you can say some words about it, so "we" can decide which project suits one better

list the available devices

/recalbox/scripts/recalbox-sync.sh list

synchronize the current config (what you see in recalbox) onto the abcdef

device listed with its name above

note that it's a synchronisation, ie, rsync, ie, you can do it as often

as you want, it will only update changes since the last time, so, except
the first time, it's very fast.
