Hi @MontyMoleUK . I had a similar problem. My TVs default refresh rate reported by its EDID was 50Hz and so Batocera set it to 50Hz, but for Arcade and PC Engine emulators i wanted a refresh rate of 60Hz.
My solution was to set a resolution that my TVs EDID preferred with 60Hz for these emulators. The resolution can be changed in Batocera menu by pressing start and then select games/advanced and then the emulator you want to change the resolution. The Problem is that you cant select refresh rates, only resolutions.
To get the refresh rates to the selectable resolutions you can do following.
When you use a Terminal program like Putty and make an SSH to batocera, you can get your TVs EDID infos with following commands.
export DISPLAY=:0.0
and then
xrandr
That gives me this:
Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1920 x 1080, maximum 16384 x 16384
HDMI-A-0 connected primary 1920x1080+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 698mm x 392mm
1920x1080 50.00 + 60.00* 59.94 24.00 23.98
1680x1050 50.00
1280x1024 50.00
1440x900 50.00
1280x800 50.00
1280x720 60.00 50.00 59.94
1024x768 50.00
800x600 50.00
720x576 50.00
720x480 60.00 59.94
640x480 60.00 59.94
The first refresh rate after the resolution is the preferred refresh rate of your TV.
So i had to choose 1920x1080 for 50Hz and 1280x720 for 60Hz in games/advanced/emulator options as resolution.
Sure its not the best solution, but for me it workes very well and 720p for 60Hz 240p games is not bad.
