Hard Drive long booting.

My old harddrive craped out on me so i decided to buy a new one. It is a western digital blue wd3200aajs. its a newly formated harddrive with no roms on it only the default one with batocera.
From the first boot screen, the one with the batocera linux to the next boot screen loading, it take around 2 to 3 minutes.
I tested out another old laptop harddrive ad it only take a second or 2.. Is this harddrive compatable with batocera linux or do it need drivers or something. On a windows pc it tested out fine and works as it should,.
Also my setup consist of 2 harddrives. The first one is a 4 gb ssd that boots the operating system, and the other is a fat32 / ntsf formated to store my roms and other items.

leo_kendall This symptom could be: or disk problem (even new disks may come faulty!) Or else the RPM speed of it being too slow or even feeding it may be insufficient, as well as sata cable may be problematic ... . In general, this may be a hardware failure. Hardly a software failure ...

all hard drives are supported. Note that on the first boot, it can take a bit more time.

The hard drive works but it takes so long compared to the other hard drives i have. Takes around 2 minutes each time for boot that is with only a few roms. i guess some harddrives do not work to well with batocera.

@leo_kendall have you formatted this disk recently ?
connect to a terminal, type dmesg, and check if there are errors related to your disk in the 50 last lines.

i think it is the hard drive, after searching around it seems it has a power saving feature where it do not spin up until it gets a command. All my other hard drives i tested work fine. I got another hard drive on order a 500gb segate one. i'll let you know if that one works. PM2 is the problem i think. And i cannot disable it in the hard drive firmware.

Hard drive been fully tested with windows and doss programs. Cyrstalmark test been also performed on this drive. everything checks out as it should. Harddrive is being used a the operating system in the computer i am typing this and the machine boots pretty quickly. Just a weird drive for batocera. Lakka boot fine on it.
