AMD GPU Problem in some emulators.

I'm writing this becasue I see that there are a lot of people having problems with their AMD GPUs. Including me. It's not possible to run NAOMI games with AMD GPU, it just shows glitchy screen, like broken jpeg and there's nothing we can do apart from reboot or power off with a button. I've tried with Radeon 7770, now upgraded to RX 560 - it's the same. I have batocera USB/HDD, when I plug it to my Dell Latitude with Intel HD 4000 - it run NAOMI games fine (no changes in conf - just plug an boot from US😎. When I tried the same on some old notebook with Core 2Duo and Nvidia 8600GT - Naomi games works. So it looks like it's AMD GPU only specified problem. Still waiting for solution.... and I'm sure I'm not the only one 😃

same for me, I guess it the change from reicast to flycast? the 5.21 release works flawlessly

eeee87 I've tried to set emulator.core for naomi to reicast in batocera.conf as somebody mentioned in other post about this matter, but it results with the same reaction. Today I got an idea, maybe it's output related problem, on the notebooks, it's always on internal screen, which is connected on LVDS, and on all the Desktops I've checked it's set to =auto but the connection is with DVI, I'll try later today with HDMI and/or DP to see if it helps.

BZZ I still need to test it but I agree that people do mention problems with AMD GPU-s. Its an interesting topic to start and get some more information from people that actually have these challenges.

Today got some time to mess with it. 5.21 release - works flawlessly. 5.22 doesn't, 5.23 also doesn't. What I found out - 5.21 release shows OpenGL 3.3 Mesa 18.2.4 in information menu (which works) 5.22 release run on Intel GPU got OpenGL 4.2 Mesa 19.0.1 (works), 5.22 Release run on Radeon 7770 and RX 560 got OpenGL 4.5 Mesa 19.0.1, so I believe it is Mesa version related problem or just emulator core update not supporting some GPUs on newer Mesa drivers. Still looking forward for working 5.22 release (neogeoCD 😃)

flycast works with amd gpu under the latest retroarch build using windows 10 for what its worth

eeee87 Yes, I can confirm it. So it's not emulator core problem, I am 99% sure it is MESA driver related problem. 19.0.1 is a little old nowadays. It's from march of this year as we can see on MESA changelog.

Hi, I have the same problem with Naomi. amd 2200g cpu when I enter a game black screen and batocera blocking. I hope they solve it
