Might be related to the emulator/core switch with 5.22?
My 8bitdoSF30Pro has stopped working in DC too since the update to 5.22

mk55 I have to admit that I have not used Dreamcast before 5.22 so cannot really say ;-)

I could not reproduce.
For me PS3 controllers work flawlessly in dreamcast with X86_64 5.22 stable (for both, over bluetooth and connected via USB-cable).
Try a fresh new install from scratch.

Wich emu/core are you using?
Default setting ran pretty awesome in 5.21, now i can't get out of the date setting screen because no input is recognized at all, i need to use ESC to get back to the GUI.

If i change to the LIBRETRO/REICAST core it works again, sometimes.. it's kinda weird, Resident Evil Code Veronica for instance worked - after going back to the GUI and trying some other ROMs that same game gives me the boot.. Another thing is the MASSIVE black border i'll get with this core.. If i try to set resolution to anything other then AUTO i'll get the boot again..

AUTO/AUTO (which is Reicast/Reicast)
But with Libretro/Reicast and Libretro/Reicast_Wince it also works without problems for me.

Did you try a fresh new install from scratch?
Could you list your hardware specs?
And what kind of PS3-controllers do you use? Geniune/original Sony PS3-Controllers or 3rd-party ones /clones?

strange, because i can not reproduce your problem.
and i don't think that the majority of other people have such issue.

do you have the possibility to test another pc and/or another PS3-controller?
or test with a bluetooth-dongle (so that you can use the PS3-controller wirelessly over bluetooth)?

you could also test an older version of batocera (5.19, 5.20 or 5.21) or the current beta of 5.23

joinski Yes I will try to test on another PC in the next few days and with another controller. I will also try it via bluetooth. My wireless keyboard works with no trouble on Dreamcast.

I found another PS3 controller, plugged it in and it worked like a charm.... Oddly the other controller was perfectly fine in all other systems. I've plugged the one that did not work afterwards and it works as well now.

Either something inside of first controller prevented it to "detect" or fresh controller reset some settings (?).

but what just comes into my mind.... i remembered that i had some troubles with my PS3 controllers in the past and i could solve it by resetting the controller. There is a small hole on the backside of the controller and you just press it with a needle or a bended paperclip.
and what i also noticed... when the battery of the controller is empty or low, then the controllers sometimes also behaves strange (don't connect properly or suddenly losing the connection). so it is recommended to always use fully charged controllers.

I have the same problem with my 8BitDoSF30Pro.. (running in DX mode recognized as a Xbox360Pad)
New install didn't change a thing, can't even go back to the ES GUI w/Select+Start!

Might hook up a PS3 controller now and see what happens..
