I found a program that converts Dreamcast GDI to CHD files. The GDIs load fine, but the converted CHDs won't load. Is there one that does work? Just trying to save some space.
Same thing happens to me, I thought I was doing the conversion wrong.
I have all GDI converted to CHD and it works.
The Problem is, some "chdman" are the newest V5 CHD (manager 0.146 to Up). And Reicast needs V4 (Up to manager 0.145). The Compression of V4 is 200mb less than V5 but good enough for a compression and better than a big GDI file.
I used this "chdman":
But its needed to rename the gdi files to a single word. (From "Sonic Adventure.gdi" to "Sonic.gdi")
Than rename the .bin files. (From "Sonic Adventure (Track 01).bin to "(Track 01).bin")
Than edit the .gdi files with Notepad+++. ( From "Sonic Adventure (Track 01).bin" to "(Track 01).bin") And this for all Tracks.
Than Edit the .bat to this: "chdman -createcd Sonic.gdi Sonic.chd"
Start the .bat and "chdman" makes the right .CHD files.
PittStone Thanks I'll give that a go. Renaming the files should be quick (using Flash Renamer), and using a macro recorder in notepad to do that task quicker.
Thanks Pittstone, this procedure worked for me, however you can save yourself a few steps.
Leave the track files as is with no brackets, ie track01.bin, etc & you don't have to edit the gdi file then.
I've only done Soul Calibur so far & it worked for it.
