How to enable savestates in SNES/NES games?

Hello,
I'm new to Batocera (brought here from ETA Prime YouTube video) so I apologize in advance if this has already been brought up and answered. I did search the forum and WiKi but couldn't find the answer.

How do you enable savestates and loadstates in SNES?

I'm able to use Select + Y and Select + X on PSP games with no issue but the same does not work on SNES or NES games. Please assist.

Batocera.linux 5.22 (x86 64Bits)
2009 Apple MacBook Pro
Core 2 Duo 2.26Ghz
128 SSD
8 Gigs RAM
8BitDo SN30 Pro wired controller

Hotkey + Y for save and Hotkey + X for load save state should work in almost every system/emulator.
Did you set Select manually as Hotkey in Controller Configuration?

The controller was auto configured upon first boot but I'll try the Controller Configuration.

That did the trick. I can now create save states in PSX games. Thank you.
